Andross Silver had a nice life until he was pushed over the side of his building. Reborn into a family that wants to kill him, gifted with a system and armed with determination he rises to the challenges of this strange world.

His only blessing is the Mark of the Crijik, a magical gift from a divine being that bestows great powers onto those that possess it.

It also kills them at the age of twenty five.

Andross must master magic to help him carve a path to greatness, and overcome the countdown of death that has been placed upon him.

My parents love me.

That’s why they run towards danger with me in their arms.

A stone with newborn babies on it? Its just a sacrificial altar. Nothing for me to worry about.

What’s that in the sky? Oh no.

Jackal Among Snakes: GameLit Fantasy Progression

Jackal Among Snakes: (...)

The royal bastard of House Vasquer, Argrave, has changed after his stay studying magic at the Tower of the Gray Owl. The sickly man's awkward posture and cruel behavior have been replaced with a neat dignity and acerbic wit. His listless life has found a path of undeniable purpose. Most come away thinking he seems to know too many details about too much. Few can claim to know his motives or his goals.

Behind the scenes, though, the primary contributor for an open-world RPG's wiki battles existential dread and things far beyond his ken as he struggles to adapt to a grim, gothic fantasy world that he had the misfortune to claim as his favorite game. This is his tale.

#####What to expect from this story#####

This piece is a high-fantasy style story, featuring many of the species and surroundings one might expect to find in such a world. The cultures are original and well-developed, with the primary setting being a European-style feudal society. Warfare, fell beasts, and natural disasters are commonplace in Berendar, and take the center of many plots. The protagonist is a smooth-talker, but the world does not exist for him; he must struggle to gain power.

A (Not So) Simple Fetch Quest

A (Not So) Simple Fetch (...)

Oh great hero! The evil Demon Lord has once again arisen to terrorise our lands, and we have summoned you to save our people!

No, we don't want you to fight the demon lord! Of course not; we're the good guys! What sort of good guys kidnap people from other worlds and force them to take part in wars that have nothing to do with them? That would just be plain evil! We'd be no better than the demons!

Katie, after her summoning by an excessively loud mage suddenly takes an unexpected twist, is sent off on a simple fetch quest, with a promise that she'll be back home in five minutes at most. She doesn't even need to leave the building. Alas, when a goddess' blessing causes her wish for an actual adventure to be taken rather more literally than she expected, she finds herself lost in a dark cave, far away from the sword she was supposed to acquire and far too close to a population of giant bugs. Still, at least she wished her life wasn't in any danger. Among other things.

Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it.

This is a dark litRPG adventure, both in terms of Katie accidentally wishing all the lights out, and also in that she loses as often as she wins, often with horrific and disturbing consequences. Luckily, Katie isn’t the sort of person to let a mere grizzly death or two get her down, and is prepared to try, try and try again to get her hands on the holy sword and finally complete her ‘simple’ fetch quest. Or perhaps—with a few resistance skills under her nightie—she might even come to enjoy losing. Not that she’d ever consider forgoing revenge, even if she did.

I’ve ticked all the content warning checkboxes for this one. There’s no explicit sexual content, but there are enough references to justify the warning. Profanity happens rarely, but Katie isn’t averse to swearing when she gets particularly angry. As for gore/trauma, it doesn’t get much worse than the first few chapters, but there will be occasional chapters that have extra content warnings.

No Rift can stop my progress. No dungeon boss will be match for my strength! My OPness will shake the heavens!

Except this isn't my story. I've woken up.

A strange accident hurls a man thousands of years into the future to find that disasters have transformed the world into a fantastical setting of monsters and magical swordsmen. Our protagonist does not become a hero. Instead he is recruited into a heretical cult led by a foul necromancer. To survive this new world, he must adapt to life as one of the dark lord’s evil lieutenants, carrying out impossible orders, scheming against his rival cultists, avoiding the real heroes out to kill him, and developing his own personal brand of magical swordcraft.

[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

(Placeholder title until I come up with something better.)

– Minion to Dark Lord progression.

– MC lurking undercover as an evil lieutenant.

– First true spellcaster in a world of magic swordsmen.

– Wuxia power levels.

– Minor base building / project management.

– A little bit of crafting.

– Meandering progression/plot.

– Dumb comedy.

Nine-to-Five Villainy (...)

Once upon a time, a man that flew through the skies as easily as any bird changed everything.

Decades have passed since then, yet life remains depressingly normal for most. For Timothy Lewis and Amanda Collins, there's parties, high-school, family trouble, high-school, awkward crushes, high school, and, of course, their rising careers as supervillains.

Perfectly normal stuff.

Dungeon Core? Nah, I Think I'll Just Get Super-Wealthy Instead

Dungeon Core? Nah, I (...)
by Maltenai
328 pages

The cycle is simple enough. A Dungeon Core is born from a wayward soul. It seeks power and agency, and works to accumulate wealth to fuel its power, in turn using this power to accumulate further wealth. Inevitably, the mind is lost as desperation and ambition drive it to commit darker and darker acts. Shortly thereafter, the adventurers arrive to quell the core.

This is a tale that has repeated itself countless times throughout history: all cores desire power. And yet, this core seems to have it backwards.

It doesn't want to rule the world. It has no desire to enslave or conquer.

No, this core doesn't want to be a warlord, a villain, or a tyrant.

It wants to start a core-poration.

After all, when money is power, what greater weapon is there than capitalism? Join a dungeon core that wastes an absurd amount of time and effort trying not to be evil on his journey to earn fat stacks against all odds.

-This is a 'Dungeon Core' type fiction with LitRPG elements in it. The start may be fairly slow compared to the average. Expect roughly 2.5k per chapter.

-I'm only a hobbyist writer. As such, there may be the occasional error and pacing may be poorly-handled. Constructive criticism is alway welcome. I'm just here to write stuff that makes my brain release the g o o d c h e m i c a l s.

-I am trashy and I like monsterpeople so you can expect an awful lot of those as we get further in.

Thank you for reading this far, and I hope you enjoy.

People waking up is a part of the usual normal life.

An uncountable number of people waking up with fuzzy memories and selective amnesia, only to be greeted with a status screen congratulating them for being a participant of a game?

The new normal.

Uncertainty follows the realization as the world around them, while looking the same, melts together with memories of what was once called fantasy.

New surroundings and blurred borders await as we follow a young man along his path of survival and growth.

In this new world power is quantified and upgradeable, traits get objectified and give out boons, while feats, some bigger, some smaller get rewarded. So how hard could it be to procure enough food and water?

Genre, tags and content warning are subject to change. They were selected preemptively to cover certain bases for future chapters. I do not have a script only a premise and general outline I will follow along as I write.

As this is my first try at writing I'd be overjoyed to get any kind of feedback.

Adventurer Slayer

Adventurer Slayer
by Dionysus of Giza
471 pages

Vance's world is turned upside down when he accepts a class that rewards him for killing other adventurers. He no longer needs to work for the Federal Guild. He no longer needs to follow the rules set by the Church of Amirani. He's free to explore his real potentialpartnering with monsters against humans, hunting both beginners and professionals, and journeying across dimensions for Class Ascensions. How far will he make it before the ghosts of the past catch up to him? And how long can he remain disguised—a bloodsoaked wolf among helpless sheep? Thus starts the life of an Adventurer Slayer.

Disclaimer: This work is not only about slaying adventurers. There are arcs about allying with monsters, arcs about fighting monsters, arcs about fighting other adventurer slayers, and stuff like that. Lots of variety. If you prefer a one-pattern story, with lots of repetition, this is not for you.

This is a character-and-story-focused LitRPG.

Chapters are 3-4k words long.
