Paranoid Mage

Paranoid Mage
by InadvisablyCompelled
146 pages

Callum had seen things all his life.  There are monsters and beasts living among people, but he learned very early not to admit such things, not if he didn’t want people to think him crazy.

It turns out that the supernatural is real, but at thirty Callum has no desire to be part of that secret.  Not that he has a choice when it turns out he is a mage, albeit one that hasn’t cast any spells in all his life.  There are requirements, duties, and education that the powers that be insist he be subject to.

To hell with that.

Paranoid Mage is an urban fantasy but it goes rather sideways from the normal stuff fairly quickly.

Chapters are Fridays, 5PM EST, with approximately 5,000 words per chapter.

(This is the same length as Blue Core, just with different perspectives inline rather than separated)

For the first week (Jan 3-7) there will be one chapter a day!

The Rise of the Winter Wolf

The Rise of the Winter (...)
by WolfShine
498 pages

What would you do if your entire life was suddenly changed at the drop of a hat?

The entire population of the world that you were born into suddenly transported to another planet along with the rest of the intelligent inhabitants of the Milky Way Galaxy.

A strange System talking to you about abilities and levels without a care for your opinions.

Thousands of monster spawning dungeons placed around the new world without a care for the new inhabitants.

And if those weren't bad enough, a forced invitation for one thousand random individuals to compete in a livestreamed competition within a dungeon with the rank of Administrator as the prize.

You don’t know?

Well, it’s actually pretty simple.

You survive.

Wolf Adler is a seemingly average college student who is still living with his family when he, along with every other human on the planet, are faced with a strange blue box filling up their vision warning them about an upcoming reappropriation of every being of sufficient intelligence to a new planet for the initialization of some sort of System.

Now, what would an average person do if they saw this?

Ignore it and act as if it didn’t happen?

Joke about it perhaps?

If that’s the case, then maybe Wolf Adler isn’t all that average after all.

Not unless you count him and his family all rushing to grab something they can use as a weapon before a small countdown on the bottom of the box reaches zero as average.

There is only one main protagonist, but the story does have more than one perspective that it is told from. It's mostly first person from the main protagonist and third person perspective for the livestreams.

The beginning of the story has also been massively rewritten since most of the reviews as of 1/23/2022. (although it didn't change the actual plot or story at all)

Feedback of all kinds is always welcomed! I do make edits if your suggestions or criticism makes sense, whether they are from reviews, comments, or private messages!

The release schedule right now is at least 1 chapter a day, with most days having two chapters. The chapters themselves range from 1800 words to 3300 words each, but the average chapter length is around 2000-2700 words.

This is my third story as of now.

The gore warning on the novel might not apply, but I am keeping it on there anyways just to give me room in case I ever do write something someone might consider too graphic gore wise.

I do not write sexual content or harem stuff. I am also not very interested in writing romance, so if you think you might see some romance, then you are probably wrong unless it's only a slight hint at romance or a slow romance very far into the story.

But when aliens are attacking your station and giant six-eyed rats are eating your robotic face, you start to doubt these choices. Accidentally starting a war doesn't help, either.

Mother of Learning: The AU Chapters

Mother of Learning: The (...)
by nobody103
32 pages

This is a collection of what-if scenarios for my other story, Mother of Learning. Time related stories are full of interesting concepts, and alternate timelines are one of them. I've always been fascinated with AU stories, and I've decided to make a few chapters to celebrate getting Mother of Learning official published on Amazon.

(By the way, if you are interested in that, you can find the Amazon link here.)

And yes, this is basically the author making AU fanfiction for his own story. Don't take this too seriously: none of the stories here are canonical and are made purely for fun.

If you aren't familiar with my main story, this will probably not make too much sense to you, but Mother of Learning is a story of a magic-using teenager stuck in a time loop, set in a fantasy world that is in the midst of a technological and magical revolution. If you like what you just read, go hop to the main story and give it a try.

At The Precipice [A Survival LitRPG]

At The Precipice [A Survival (...)
by R. R. Quan
516 pages

Following his ‘death’ at the hands of a vicious magpie, Brock is rescued by the machinations of the newly instated, all-powerful System and thrust knee-deep into a brutal world catered only to the strong. Fluctuating between two states of being and quarantined within a city ravaged by time, he is told to either seek out the mysterious ‘Source’, or die trying.

He just hopes he can do it without scuffing his expensive suit in the process.

Honestly, I've just always wanted to write a story. I had a crack at it a few years back, but the entire thing fell apart before it even began. At The Precipice was originally written as a way for me to destress and play with System elements and characters, but eventually I decided that if I was gonna write, why not post it too? Writing's just a hobby of mine, so don't expect this to be at published novel level, I guess, or even anything of relative polish.

Updates every Mon-Tues-Wed-Thurs-Fri

Average chapter length is 2000 - 3000 words

What to expect:

- A semi-comedic/light tone, mixed in with a gritty world and brutal survival (not ever grimdark though)

- An MC that thinks about what he's going to do and why he'll do it, even if his internal logic is lacking. Is a rather rational person, not often influenced by his emotions, but can be in extreme situations.

- A plot heavily focused upon the MC, but one that will branch off to envelope the other characters in the world at times. Often, it's just other people's perspectives of him.

- A story of power growth. While the MC is certainly going to be powerful, even over 100 chapters in from what I've written, he still isn't the strongest being on Earth, let alone the entire Multiverse.

- Lots of gore, vivid fight descriptions, and often times deaths of people, some even somewhat important to the story.

Things this story will never have:

- Harems

- An edgy, villainous MC

- An MC that does jackshit about things for 'plot reasons'

Only on Royal Road and Scribblehub.

Jackal Among Snakes: GameLit Fantasy Progression

Jackal Among Snakes: (...)
by Nemorosus
338 pages

The royal bastard of House Vasquer, Argrave, has changed after his stay studying magic at the Tower of the Gray Owl. The sickly man's awkward posture and cruel behavior have been replaced with a neat dignity and acerbic wit. His listless life has found a path of undeniable purpose. Most come away thinking he seems to know too many details about too much. Few can claim to know his motives or his goals.

Behind the scenes, though, the primary contributor for an open-world RPG's wiki battles existential dread and things far beyond his ken as he struggles to adapt to a grim, gothic fantasy world that he had the misfortune to claim as his favorite game. This is his tale.

#####What to expect from this story#####

This piece is a high-fantasy style story, featuring many of the species and surroundings one might expect to find in such a world. The cultures are original and well-developed, with the primary setting being a European-style feudal society. Warfare, fell beasts, and natural disasters are commonplace in Berendar, and take the center of many plots. The protagonist is a smooth-talker, but the world does not exist for him; he must struggle to gain power.

Braindead - A Zombie LitRPG

Braindead - A Zombie (...)
by Dark Jester
204 pages

In a world where zombies are trash mobs that children kill for easy exp, what hope does one little zed have?

Zed was minding his own business when his master's domain was invaded by a plucky young heroine looking to make a name for herself. An unlikely turn of events allowed Zed to come out on top, and gave him enough experience to rise above the life of a mindless minion. Unfortunately, it also left him with no body to share it with... literally, not figuratively!

This story contains:

Some 'jokes' containing questionable humour.

An inhuman MC who has no interest in pesky things like romance or growing a conscience.

Blue boxes, and a DnD style system messily mashed together with several other systems.

Gore, but nothing too gratuitous. The main character is a severed head so what do you expect?

Kingdom/base building, because what good is a zombie without a good horde behind them.

Releases planned for each Sunday until I build up a decent backlog.

Etherial Adventurer [Adventure LitRPG]

Etherial Adventurer [Adventure (...)
by AgalaxySama
1.4k pages

Humanity as a civilization and species has come very far compared to the time they only inhabited a single planet. The reason? Humanity has long since been completely integrated into the Intergalactic Society (IGS), hundreds of thousands of years ago to not be exact.

Over this long stretch of time, technology and society continued to develop, with its ups and downs, until in the cycle 745 of the IGS Universe Calendar, where the Universe finally reached the necessary ether density to awaken a bringer of extraordinary changes, the Ether Law.

Amidst the gargantuan IGS spanning tens of galaxies, Rune is only a good-standing galactic citizen living a peaceful life on a rural planet with his family. And when the previously unimaginable changes start to happen, his heart tells him it was something he had waited for, for a long time.

This is an adventure, so respect the adventurous feelings I’m transmitting.

LitRPG Fantasy Adventure is life.

It’s not a comic story that doesn’t take itself seriously. It’s also not a grimdark story, going to the depth of making sure the environment is the worst one you could ever find. It’s just a serious story, with a normal protagonist discovering everything my imagination has to offer, and plenty of worldbuilding and world development spicying it up

And to make that as close to what I want to read, I don’t use conflict as a drive. I have enough of stories without freedom and with plot deadlines, so the only antagonist is impatience, because Rune will not have the supreme talent of breaking the Ether Law and my Universe. <3

Chapters are around 3 000 words each.

Update: 1 chapter every 2 days minimum, I have no limit if I feel threatened by addicted readers.

Of course the title isn't miswritten! It's Etherial, not Ethereal! A serial killer, not a sereal killer! It's controversial, not controverseal! Quintessential, not quintessenteal!
