Re: At what point do you count something as "slice of life"?
I think there needs to be a consistent focus on character or the world around the character, with a moment where the stakes aren't grand, but these moments are important to the character. I think...maybe. (...)

Do you have a medium you just can't handle?
For me it's comic books. It could be my favorite series, but if it's in a comic book, I'm not going anywhere near it. Can't be dealing with the medium. Feel like it's got all the worst parts of books and (...)

At what point do you count something as "slice of life"?
Pretty much what I said above. At what point do you think it is reasonable to say a book has "slice of life" elements?

Re: How do people feel about philosophy in their books?
Oh sorry I misunderstood what you meant about popularity. I was thinking of it in terms of classes taken rather than being people's major. In that context, then yeah, you're obviously right. Quite a (...)

Re: How do people feel about philosophy in their books?
Frankly, mass audiences are just not that interested in philosophy for its own sake. People like to think they're into that kind of stuff, but aside from YouTube videos or stoned conversations most people (...)

Re: How do people feel about philosophy in their books?
One of my series on Amazon is quite philosophically focused (it's about a philosophical detective and includes the answer to the meaning of life as an aside in book one). I'm finding that it doesn't get (...)

Re: How badly would a cellphone ruin your story?
In my superhero story, Oblivion, it's modern day so everyone has a phone. In Frozen Dagger, it would certainly make things a lot easier for the spies and such as they wouldn't have to stuff around with (...)

Re: How do people feel about philosophy in their books?
I'm all for philosophy, but "it has to be done well" as the vague and general saying about literally anything around here goes. But it's not untrue. There's a huge difference between an exploration (...)

Re: How do people feel about philosophy in their books?
Um. Well, you say your story includes The Answer to The Meaning of Life. So, is it comedic, like The Number 42, or is your story some sort of Animal Farm/Handmaiden sort of tale, like something Beauvoir (...)

Re: If your novel got turned into a movie/series/anime?
For Oblivion: definitely a movie. It's not really long enough for a series and it's got a ton of cool set pieces that would be good fun. Someone like Zack Snyder would be a great pick to direct as he does (...)

Re: Weird Review
I once got a review saying that they didn't really like that my book was in third person omniscient perspective... it wasn't.

Re: How do you earn your money?
I'm a philosopher... actually.

Re: How many times you've re-read your own writings?
I'd say 2-3 times for editing, a couple more times if I'm proofing it. For fun, it depends on the book. The two I have up on here I've reread sections of because they're awesome, but for some of my (...)

Re: Lesser Known Stories
If you're interested in either of my stories, I could potentially be keen. Oblivion is sort of a mystery and both of them are really good if I do say so myself.

The Frozen Dagger
Just started releasing another book on Royal road. It's a sometimes gritty, sometimes quirky, often funny, always entertaining fantasy that weaves together several interesting and highly competent characters (...)

Re: Anti-Harem kinda guy
I find the whole harem thing a bit weird, especially when it's gone with people who have otherwise fairly modern sensibilities. Like, it's one thing when there's a political marriage involved or something, (...)

Re: Congratulations. What inherent problems would you face?
This is a trap. Nothing good comes from the ability to time travel. Maybe if I had The Doctor with me, I will at least have fun until something bad happens and it's no longer fun. Good point, every (...)

Re: Congratulations. What inherent problems would you face?
I already have the powers of time travel, and that is to enjoy the present with all of its flaws. I don't think the X-Men are going to be calling on you for that one.
