    1. Re: Pride and an LGBT+ Tag

I disagree with most of John's statements and very much think we should have the tag. It is ridiculous and extremely telling that we have tags like "first contact" and "harem" but not this one.

    2. Re: What turns you off from a book?

re. the right wing politics discussion... (disclaimer - I'm a leftie.) One example of a great story grounded in right wing politics is Heinlein's "Starship Troopers".  I'm not sure if he was being satirical (...)

    3. Re: What turns you off from a book?

Because they are almost always weighed down under ideas of “realism” and tradition in all the ways it matters least. It’s a lot of medieval-inspired worlds where the only genders are man and woman and (...)

    4. Re: What turns you off from a book?

Right wing ideology. Leads to terrible stories and atrociously boring world building.  Not right wing myself, but why would it cause boring world building? It would limit the types of stories being (...)

    5. Re: What turns you off from a book?

Right wing ideology. Leads to terrible stories and atrociously boring world building.  What? Nooo, I'm sure people would love to hear all about how Obama ran such aassove deficit that the national debt (...)

    6. Re: What turns you off from a book?

Right wing ideology. Often leads to terrible stories and atrociously boring world building (imo)

    7. Re: Why are there so many female lead stories?

Ahahaha yes my plan to overrun RR with feeeeeeemale lead stories through my legion of alt accounts is finally nearing completion

    8. Re: Will You Defend? Or Ignore?

Neither—but rather a secret, more complex third thing

    9. Re: How do people get onto Rising Stars?

Everything everyone else said, sure. But also. Shout-outs from more established authors. You want a lot of views fast? That's how you do it. But you're much more likely to get those if you have good (...)

    10. Re: So, what's an antonym for "grimdark"?

Noblebright is one term that's currently in use to define the opposite of grimdark, though I'm not sure if that fits what you're going for exactly. Grimbright and nobledark are also things that exist within (...)

    11. Re: How do you earn your money?

I think I have never quite read anything that highlighted the state of American news and politics to me quite as clearly as this, tbh. Because I just read this like thrice, and it still could literally (...)

    12. Re: Thoughts on Ai writing novels.

Could we have, like, one general AI thread which most of the conversations about AI and news and developments go into? PLEASE

    13. Re: Does the this site have any tag for GL and BL?

Yeah, there’s lots of LGBTQ+ fiction here including several that are wildly successful, so it’s totally the/a place for it. But the site owners are very adamant that adding that tag will open such fictions (...)

    14. Re: Anti-Harem kinda guy

More kobolds more happy (I write healthy polyamory, not harems, but still)

    15. Re: How to write a novel like Primal Hunter

I find it funny that in this, the year of our lord 2022, dudes still have themselves convinced that women don't like violence.  I guess it's one of those comforting delusions that a lot of people just (...)

    17. Re: Tradition or kitsune

Kitsune will get more attention. The kitsune also looks like it just crawled out of an old school box tv and is about to choke someone to death by stuffing water-logged hair down their throat. Which could (...)

    18. Re: World building pet peeves

My biggest world-building peeve is when people default to real-world stuff for everything basic that underlies society, and then just add different stuff on top of that. Like, same gender roles, same genders, (...)
