Ember's world is shaken. After years, her Arena team disbands and her friends scatter across the world. To fill the void, she puts all her energy into preparing for the Security Corps entrance exam. 

But she is to receive her first case before the exam has even started. Wave, her best friend, is found dead right in the middle of the city. Ember can't believe it, because just a few days ago she left the city in search of her parents. But that's not the only thing that's fishy about it, as the Citadel City slowly begins to crumble around her.

Her adventure takes Ember through the futuristic Citadel City, the jungle that surrounds it, and into other, unimagined worlds.

Ember kann das nicht glauben, denn erst vor einigen Tagen hat sie die Stadt auf der Suche nach ihren Eltern verlassen. Aber das ist nicht das Einzige, das an der Sache stinkt, denn die Zitadellenstadt beginnt langsam, um sie herum zu zerfallen.

Ihr Abenteuer führt Ember durch die futuristische Zitadellenstadt, den Dschungel, der sie umgibt und in andere, ungeahnte Welten.

Wave had always considered herself a good driver. Well, until she crashes into a desk. Now her hover car is junk, her eardrums are ruptured, and instead of admitting her for a thirty-second surgery to fix it, her insurance company just gives her a damn hearing aid.

When someone hacks into the hearing aid's operating system and speaks to her in the voice of the mysterious radio host Aki, Wave just wants to lock herself in her apartment and shut the whole world out. But then the news report that Aki has thrown himself to his death the day before, and Wave begins to investigate.
