    1. Re: Submission Question

I haven’t. Because it posts right away I’m waiting until I’m closer to the end of the month. Sorry I don’t have more helpful info!

    2. Re: Submission Question

That’s what I thought/was afraid of. Thank you!

    3. Re: Submission Question

When you submit your first chapter for review, and it is approved, does it get posted immediately or do you as the author still have the ability to choose when it’s posted? if that makes sense?

    4. Re: Question on properly marking a new story.

Anthropomorphic “animal-people” are a staple of both science fiction and fantasy. I think as long as you change the name tabaxi to something else, you’re fine having cat-people as “player races”. And I (...)

    5. Re: Question on properly marking a new story.

Edit: Welcome to the site! I’m very new here too. :) So, I’m not an intellectual property lawyer, so take all of this with that in mind, but there are some things you can definitely safely do with this (...)

    6. Re: Genres! Must have more!

I write a lot of different stuff. Some of it relatively “pure” (urban fantasy, sword & sorcery) but a lot of it “mixed” genre (science fantasy, post-apoc hopepunk, etc). Genre is just a *very* fuzzy classification (...)

    7. Re: Looking for Comments on how I can improve my books

I added one as well, though MalevolenceMau already pinged a lot of the errors I noticed.

    8. Re: Fiction set in ‘the real world’

I’m working on my first fiction for Royal Road, and I know there are some rules that need to be taken into account when writing stuff set in ‘the real world’. Basically, stay away from real world religions (...)

    9. Re: Hello there!

Welcome! I’m new here as well. :)

    10. Re: Share your strong book opinions.

The slavish devotion to Hemingway’s style has done more harm than good in terms of developing new creative writers. It’s a stylistic choice, it’s a fashion, and like fashion, it will not always be (...)

    11. Re: What TTRPGS do you play?

I’m a fan of Amber, Changeling (most editions), D&D (3rd or 5th), Mage (most editions), Shadowrun, SpyCraft, and a few others. I’ve also played a bit of Vampire, Werewolf, FantasyCraft, Call of Cthulhu, (...)

    12. Re: Share your strong book opinions.

The slavish devotion to Hemingway’s style has done more harm than good in terms of developing new creative writers. It’s a stylistic choice, it’s a fashion, and like fashion, it will not always be popular. (...)

    13. Re: What are craziest places to fetch your ideas?

I get ideas from all over the place, but one place I didn’t expect to get so many ideas was: boring classes. If I’m bored in class I find that just enough of my mind is forced to follow along that it frees (...)

    14. Re: How do you guys go about editing your work?

I would second all the people suggesting that reading work aloud is a great way to catch errors. It’s also a good way to catch stiff or unrealistic dialogue.  I try to leave one day per 1000 words between (...)

    15. Re: Salutations!

Hiya everyone! I’ve been reading on Royal Road for a few months now, and have decided to take the plunge and join the forums and (possibly) write/post a bit of my own writing soonish. I’m a student (...)
