Patchwork System

Patchwork System
by Clephas
HIATUS
415 pages

Notification (cannot be ignored): For being the first being to kill another of its own species after Sublimation, Lyam Aldren is awarded the Title of Cain’s Successor. Let all fear the Kinslayer!!!

Lyam Aldren, killer for hire, was just going about his business when he suddenly received a notification from something called the System.  Apparently, the entirety of Earth, its denizens and its matter were transported into the world of the System, planted in 'patches' all throughout the infinite world.   The world of the Patchwork System is one of challenges, where life is cheap, power is king, and Classes and levels are a thing.

In a brutal world, there is perhaps room for a killer with bloodstained hands to find his own way, free of his past.  However, his Title and his inherent nature plague him, his fragmented personality laid bare to those with the eyes to see, and if he doesn't become powerful enough to defeat or escape those who would use or destroy him, he will quickly be devoured by the merciless world created by the System.

Compared to my previous work, this is a more 'classic' litrpg setup, with clear (if somewhat complex) progression through levels and skill gains, with a 'system apocalypse' setup.  Unlike most system apocalypse story protagonists, Lyam is neither a leader nor is he particularly interested in saving his fellow Earthlings.  This is a story of a man who is both endangered and set free by the destruction of his old world, as he finds both power, new discoveries, and adventure in a place where his past matters not at all and power is the only language most speak.  Later in the story, there will be harem elements, but the first volume is dedicated to Lyam's first months in the System.

For those who are more interested in the Heirs of the Hooded King, I am putting it on hiatus as I rework the setting and future story developments a bit.

Powers.

Mysterious abilities awakened, seemingly at random, by individuals all throughout the globe. An anomaly that has persisted for decades, causing the world to undergo a great shift.

Cities.

Enclosed and strictly regulated fortresses, the only safe places in a world fraught with dangers, mostly of the supernatural kind.

Me.

A young programmer with a good-for-nothing Power, not enough for any well-paid post but too much to keep living the way I had.

Where do I fit in?

The world is a wide, wide place. And that's without taking into account the many creatures that inhabit it. When a new Dungeon Core is born deep below the surface, it faces challenge after challenge. The only question is; is it up to the challenge of living in this world?

This is my first attempt at writing a Dungeon Core story. I'll gladly take any and all advice, comments, or criticism.

158 pages

A new mother that recently hit rock bottom not long before giving birth to a child she never planned to have is whisked to a new world of magic and monsters. Her prodigious intelligence earns her a free magical skill, and though she makes great use of it, little does she know that in this new land, magic is the highest taboo imaginable, and for a good reason. She learns quickly that she will have to be the bigger monster to protect the only thing in her life worth protecting, her child, and with her particular set of skills, there's an unending tide of enemies waiting to have a piece of her.

What to expect:

An unforgiving madness-inducing magic system, secret identity shenanigans, biological magic and therefore body-horror, a barebones and unintrusive status screen system, a genius-intellect self-serving main character.

Trigger warning

Contains mentions and brief descriptions of rape.

Release Schedule

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 4pm EST

Shold'ler has made a reality before. It was pretty messy, the physics didn't work properly, and his designs were just terrible.

This place has flawless physics, a whole set of natural laws, and the most detailed everything he's ever seen. The air moves sometimes (but not all the time), the grass has layers underneath it, and the trees sometimes have things living in them.

All things considered... it's depressingly good.

What's he supposed to do here?

Every great story needs an author.

Samuel Bragg, an ordinary human map maker, sets out from his humdrum life in a small village to take over the estate of his late father, and discovers that an ancient, fallen god calls out to him in his sleep. Come find me, it says. Intrigued, Samuel sets out to find the deity, assisted by his two new mysterious and powerful friends.

Read Tome of the Body to discover what happens when a legend is born. In a world teeming with the extraordinary, what can be accomplished by a young man who is quite ordinary himself? Together, we will learn, just as Samuel does, that even amongst the ordinary, the extraordinary can be born.

New chapter every day until completed.

Hirrus Callabryn is cursed. Afflicted. Infected.

He’s also aware. For once.

After a player-led event turns his once peaceful town into a band of ravenous monsters, Hirrus obtains a sentience usually unobtainable by non-player characters. It might be a gift of the gods, or a mistake, but Hirrus doesn’t care. It means he can track down and find the players responsible and stop them from doing it again.

Thing is, players don’t like their plans being interrupted. And in this game, there’s no resurrection until the weekly reset. Will Hirrus be able to cut a path of destruction across the land to get his revenge, or will the players be able to overwhelm him and bring him to justice?
