Release Schedule:

5 chapters a week (M-F)

Average Chapter Length:

General Structure:

Explosions, followed by segments of character building and interpersonal relationships, followed by more explosions. Not every chapter will be about combat missions, but I'll try to keep the non-combat chapters relevant to character growth.

Video Game Homages:

My world and setting are heavily inspired by Final Fantasy VII, with a large corporation of questionable morals and a big round city which is simultaneously futuristic and old-fashioned. Hallowed, my super soldiers, are similar to SOLDIERS from Final Fantasy VII as well, right down to their superhuman strength and softly glowing eyes.

The primary antagonists, Mutes, are similar to the "fast" zombies and tanks you fight in Left 4 Dead, though there's definitely some necromorph (Dead Space) inspiration as well, and a fighting style reminiscent of genestealers (40k).

My battle scenes are usually squad-based battles against scattered groups of Mutes in urban environments, similar to the normal missions in X-Com: Enemy Unknown. I've also added casualty reports after each mission for my own entertainment.

Finally, you'll likely stumble across some Easter Eggs. I apologize in advance.

I don't have my own Discord and will likely not be creating one (mainly due to sheer laziness) but if you'd like to hit me up on the Aethon Author discord, you can find me (and many other authors!) hanging out there.

Good things come to those who wait. Damien Vale didn't, and now he's bound to an Eldritch creature from beyond the farthest reaches of the universe. It's unfathomable, utterly evil, and likes to be called Henry. To Damien, none of that mattered. He was going to learn magic, and he'd be damned if he let something as small as this set him back.

When Damien started his first year at a mage college, he didn't expect it to be easy. However, when he's assigned to room with a strange girl that has magic that even Henry is wary of, Damien realizes things might not be so easy. He sets out to accomplish his life goal of becoming a powerful mage, all the while dealing with a murderous professor, an eldritch creature that's created a persona to act like a teenager, and a new roomate that's far more perceptive than he'd like.

As Damien struggles to deal with the rammifications of the monster within him, a disturbing fact comes to life: Henry might not be the only eldritch creature on the mortal plane, and he's the only one that can stop them.

NOTE: This story is  progression fantasy with some very basic litRPG elements (such as a wristband that shows a character's stats). It is not a full on litRPG - it's a progression fantasy story with litRPG elements. The story will contain some romance, but it will not be explicit nor will it take over the story. It starts off slow, but will pick up speed quickly around chapter 26. Enjoy!

My Best Friend is an Eldritch Horror was origonally started as a way to thank my patreons. I will be keeping the patreon updated 15 chapters in advance. Enjoy!

Be careful when demanding reparations from gods. They rarely own up to their mistakes.

Due to a goddess's shortsighted error, Perry finds himself transported to a distant Universe with new proportions and a different identity. Instead of cowering before the deity, he demands she opens a portal home or provides reparations for him and his bereaved family. Unfortunately, standing up for himself doesn't earn Perry respect. Instead, she curses him with cowardice, limiting his combat and magical potential.

Little does the goddess know that nothing can stand in the way of Perry's sheer will. If brute strength and arcane might won't get him the justice he desires, wit and creativity will.

Perry's first target? A goblin shaman. Then, the world.

And so begins, the bard's ballad.

Posting 5 times a week from Monday to Friday!

Bard's Ballad takes place in the same extended Universe as my other story, The Houndsman. It's set on a distant 'disk', though. As a result, the magic system is unique in comparison and has a harder LitRPG system. While the story utilises stats, it doesn't take them seriously and occasionally makes fun of regular LitRPG mechanics.

This story is co-authored by J Pal.
He originally wrote it as The Halfwit Halfling but got tired of number-heavy LitRPGs.
I've taken over the story-boarding and the tale uses names/locations from the old story but not the same plot progression.
I dropped the prison break theme and have given the book a proper villain (a goblin shaman). As a result, the story shouldn't be mistaken as a slice of life despite the protagonist's combat limitations.
Perry uses wit to overcome challenges instead of brawn or arcana.

After his parents died, Alex Roth had a plan: become a wizard. Through hard work, he was accepted into the world’s greatest university of wizardry—but fate had another plan.

On his eighteenth, he is marked as one of his kingdom’s five Heroes, chosen to fight the land’s great enemy. But his brand is 'The Fool', worst of the marks.

Rather than die or serve the other Heroes like Fools in the past, he packs up his little sister, his childhood friend and her cerberus, then flees for the university in hope of refuge, magic and to unravel the truth about his land’s evil.

There’s one small problem: The Mark tries to ruin magic while enhancing skills outside of divinity, combat and spellcraft.…

…that is, unless he can learn to exploit the hell out of it.

This the first time I am writing a web novel type story, and I hope you like it. I like progression stories and I've always wanted to try and write one like a few of the web novels that inspired me.

Rating: This story is kind of like a PG-13 movie. There'll be gore and some swearing but not much beyond that. If that changes, I'll warn you.

Tone: Tone will be a mix of some action-adventure with excitement, comedy, slice of life elements and mystery. I won't be going too dark with this story. There will be mentions of war, some death, grief and violence.

MC: MC is analytical/rational with emotions. He is mostly in control of those emotions. MC will progress in power, eventually becoming very strong. When that happens, I'll add the Strong Lead tag.

Fights: Fights will be detailed.

Stuff this story won't have:

- Extreme grimdark content

- Murderhobo plots

- Edgy, anti-hero MC

- Pacifist MC

- Harems

In the span of only a heartbeat, River is transported from the comfort and security of her room to a world of monsters, magic and violence.

River finds herself suddenly at the bottom of a dark chasm with sheer walls of unscalable stone all around. The blue skies and clouds of the outside world stare down at her from far above, unreachable from these depths. The only path left open leads into the Hollow Delve, a gluttonous dungeon of stone and magic teeming with slavering monsters and enchanted treasures alike. Giant featherweight swords, explosive hammers, magic cloaks and aberrant, monstrous bodily transformations make up the treasures and boons of this twisted labyrinth.

Faced with brutal combat for the first time in her life, a war of despair, pain, hope and ambition rage inside River as she struggles to improve her abilities and fight to survive.

Because in this hollow chasm, death is only a reprieve.

Only Villains Do That

Only Villains Do That

While waiting on an Akihabara train platform one day, ordinary high schooler Yoshi Shinonome was suddenly plucked from his normal life in Japan and whisked away by a beautiful goddess to Ephemera, a world of magic and adventure, to serve as her Hero and drive back the evil Dark Lord.

This is not his story.

Standing nearby at the moment Yoshi was isekai'd was a man named Seiji - a rude, cranky, misanthropic musician who was not at all pleased to find himself also snatched up and transported to Ephemera by the goddess's wicked sister, Virya.  According to this self-proclaimed Goddess of Evil, the whole fantasy adventure thing was a game she and her sister played to stave off the boredom of immortality, and since the good goddess, Sanora, had picked her Hero...well, Virya needed a Dark Lord.

A grown man with his own career and ambitions, Seiji has no interest in playing.  Unfortunately for him, the call to adventure was not a request.  Now, he must conquer Ephemera and defeat the Hero...or Virya promises to make him beg for the release of death before granting it.  Playing along for his own survival, Seiji nonetheless is under no illusions who his true enemy is, and it's not the naive young would-be Hero from his own world.

Placed in an impossible position, Seiji must make enough progress toward world domination to keep his sadistic patron goddess off his back, but not so much that he can't strike an accord with the forces of Good and convince the Hero Yoshi that it's the goddesses who are their mutual enemy.  Forced to embrace Evil without being too evil, Seiji walks the razor's edge, building his forces and biding his time till he can get revenge on the goddesses and be free of them, his only certainty that he will not be getting out of this with his hands clean.

A Dark Lord's gotta do what a Dark Lord's gotta do.
