IRREVERENT. THE AUTHOR DOES NOT GIVE A SHIT. I LOVE IT. EDGE OF MY SEAT.
WHY ARE THE FIGHT SCENES BETTER THAN MOST XIAXNIA I READ? WHAT THE FUCK. THEYRE ACTUALLY GOOD
THE TAMING SCENE REMINDS ME OF Library of Heavens Path. WTF. Its so good.
LETS START WITH STYLE AND GRAMMAR SINCE THOSE ARE THE ONLY LOST MARKS.
STYLISTICALLY THE STORY HAS GOOD FLOW. It does. Sometimes though, the author obeys the single comma blah blah clause, independent clause or whatever. It makes flow awkward sometimes. Occasionally there are minor grammar issues. Theyre a small distraction. Story is still banger.
Story: actual overarcing plot with miniature arcs strewn throguhout. Well defined, clear, and strong structure. You know where the arcs start and end, you know when the build up is happening, and the individual conflicts are resolved in order.
Character score: individual characters are well defined with unique personality.
Over all score: 5/5, you should be reading this right now.
The store is irreverent, witty, and funny. Simultaneously I'm looking forward to the plot. The cariactures of cultivators from other novels are aboslutely fantastic. The first antag reminds me of Elder Whitehall from Cradle. I cant wait to read more. Where is the patreon? I want the patreon.
Tower of Somnus was good, but it was missing one thing. That is an enemies to lovers character arc for Dorrik and Arnold. I mean cmon we all saw the chemistry there. Four armed alien? Two armed human? Novice being mentored by Dorrik?
"No Arnold, you should wield your sword... like this..."
Oh the things that lizard tongue could do.
So far, a great exploration from Arnolds perspective and a deeper dive into his very relatable character. I, like Arnold, am a nice guy, and look forward to more of this content.
Finally, a dungeoncore that can stand up to the longstanding paragons of the genre. It doesn't begin with 50 pages of redundant expostion, instead world building through smooth demonstrations of the characters people and personalities, showing the growing conflicts between them and the Imperial forces. The character is proactive from the very beginning, forced to fight for their own Isekai existance.
Absolutely fantastic. Refreshing tone and great character dynamic.
