Yashima Chronicles

Yashima Chronicles
by jacobk
HIATUS
169 pages

The island nation of Yashima is in chaos. Armies march to war, pitting cousin against cousin in the fight for power. Sword saints hone their craft in battle, growing more deadly even as the tide of muskets flooding the country make the average soldier ever more dangerous.

One woman towers over the era. Known as the blood-soaked flower of the battlefield, it is said that to see her is to risk madness. To fight her is to die. Some even say she draws her power from the blood of vanquished foes.

Listening to the rumors, I can't help but feel that my plan to secure a comfortable administrative post has somehow gone awry.

The Essence of Cultivation

The Essence of Cultivation

After experiencing five years of an adventurer's life, Arcanist Sylar Wershin now spends his days catching up on developments in Essence Studies and teasing apart the functions of arcane trinkets and artifacts discovered by him and his companions throughout their time travelling the realms of Resham. An unexpected accident during the study of his latest subject of intrigue, however, displaces him across the Planes beyond what any known spell is capable of achieving.

Now finding himself lost in a realm rich in previously-limited Transcendental Essences, however, does he truly even want to return back to his old world? If nothing else, plagiarising - ahem, learning new spell structures by observing the local mages should prove entertaining. Sure, there were new dangers in this foreign world, but they wouldn't be anything a fancy bit of spellwork couldn't solve.

Though, he would appreciate it greatly if someone could explain to him just what this 'cultivation' business was, why the local Mages were all muscle-brained freaks obsessed with immortality, and why they all seemed to lack any appreciation for the finer details of Essence manipulation. That would be nice.

I Became a [Biologist] in a Fantasy World!

I Became a [Biologist] (...)

I loved Biology - always have, and always will. Unfortunately for me, years of fruitless research whittled away what little joy I had left in what I did. Escapism came in the form of reading isekai works, where the stresses of real life seemed so far away.

Luckily, I was summoned to a fantasy world of magic, dragons, and other mythical beasts. I didn't even need to deal with the Demon Lord threat, since it seemed that my summoning was a mistake, and all they needed was the Hero who was coincidentally summoned together with me! There was no revenge subplot, no hidden trap directed against me, and they even paid me compensation for their mistake. At long last, I could finally do what I ever wanted to do - experiment for the fun of it!

With my new class as a [Biologist], none of this fantasy world's mysteries will be left untouched. Even if the Demon Lord himself comes knocking, nothing will stop me from researching every nook and cranny there is to discover of the magical biology of this world!

I write extremely casually, and purely for leisure. Updates will likely be irregular, depending on when inspiration strikes and whether I can spare the time to work on this. Don't expect too much out of this, and certainly not anything close to professional quality!

Inspired by an overconsumption of Japanese light novels, manga, and anime... expect their influence to slowly but surely take hold.

Earths Engineers are a double-edged sword. They can fix or improve anything, but no sane Xeno Engineer will touch it if it carries the Human Altered warning..

A series of interconnected tales from our distant future. It's not a novel, most of the chapters are stand-alone.

Also thanks for the awards.

Jack Voraces is narrating this story - and doing a fantastic job of it!  Listen in on his work and you can even pitch in on how you think things should sound.  The artwork done by Clara while he narrates is awesome too!  Check him out at these links:

Cultivation Anomaly

Cultivation Anomaly

Follow the journey of an individual given a classic cheat trope in a cultivation world.  What does a man do when he finds himself unsure of who he really is yet is given a cheat?  What really happens to a cultivation world when it is overrun by MC level characters?   Is the cultivation world just run by cruel young masters, short-sighted elders and uncaring experts?

Note:

Tags may be removed or added to this story as it progresses.  For example, I added the harem tag because I wasn't sure if it would appear so be forewarn.  Also, productive feedback is always appreciated even it may be ignored.

Note 2: Original idea inspired by "Arrogant Young Master Template A Variation 4".   I wanted to do something similar but have a more gritty realistic feel.  The system SHOULD differentiate as the story goes on but if it doesn't it means I need a rewrite.  Either way, read AYMTV4, it's great.

Note 3:  If you give criticism to be helpful, please try to be descriptive, specific, and focused on making my story better, not changing the story to how you would write it.  Go to the link below if you want more specifics.

Viceroy's Pride

Viceroy's Pride
by Cocop (Cale Plamann)
COMPLETED
961 pages

This story could be about the Tellask Empire, ruler of a thousand suns and faced with imminent peril at the hands of the Orakh hordes.  It could be about Paltai Amberell, the scion of a noble elven House, fallen upon hard times and seeking to find the key that will restore his family's name and save the Empire itself.  It could be the story of his voidship, The Viceroy's Pride, powered by magic and crewed by a team of crack marines as they search for adventure and the solution to the Empire's myriad problems.

Instead, this is the story of Daniel Thrush, human electrical engineer, befuddled researcher and survivor of the debacle that was first contact with a spacefaring civilization. Due to a combination of luck, magic, hard work, and more luck he is thrust into the center of events as Earth is shoved onto a much larger stage rife with semi-immortal elves and magical kingdoms that predate the Earthly invention of agriculture.

Earth is outnumbered, and we have precisely one wizard.  Dan.  He's not very good at it, but he's going to have to learn in a hurry or watch everything he knows get torn apart by massive spacefaring empires straight from the pages of a fantasy novel.

----------

Some readers have noted that the MC tends to be weak willed and pushed around a bit.  A significant portion of the story is his character growth into not being a pushover (i.e. him being passive is in the early chapters on purpose).  I'm just including this caveat/warning to make sure that readers aren't surprised/upset and that they stick with it until he learns to stand up for himself.

His arc begins to crystallize around chapters 25-27.  If that's too long to wait, I get it, I'm just trying to do my due diligence and warn you that the character development is a bit of a slow burn.

This is NOT a harem novel.  Nothing against them, just not what it is.
