RE: Science Fantasy Story List

I would really like to recommend a new fiction here: Dark Rain by Arizada http://royalroadl.com/fiction/14839/dark-rain
It's at 5 chapter right now, but all the chapters have been posted today and IT IS SO WELL WRITTEN. I enjoy reading it so much.
A Sci-Fi mystery, that enfolds gradually, with a supernatural twist.
Edit: After thinking it through, this might not fit the category. I think the fantasy element is rather small here. It's still a good story though.

A quick overview:
It's the year 2072. We follow Lenore, an agent of the Earth Counter Intelligence Taskforce, who is going undercover into the Drakestoke Psychiatric Institution, run by the big evil corporation that is also responsible for racially optimising the human race through genetic manipulation and euthanasia of "unwanted persons".
Then we also have extraterrestrial beings that had a hand in making humans the dominant species on earth, will they remain as watchers? A signal from one of these beings was intercepted by the ECIT and thus Lenore is looking for its traces in the Asylum.

It is not a distopian future at all, but there is a strong sense of foreboding in the first chapters already. The dislike that the MC has for the practices of the IGS (big evil corporation) and her pessimistic view on the path that humankind is taking, paint a picture of a world that looks healthy on the outside, but is rotten to the core.

The characters a fleshed out and have their very distinct mannerisms and personalities. Since they are patients in an asylum they have their problems, quirks and mental illnesses. Lenore is the main character, but there will be narratives from other characters as well. I like the main character, she seems natural in her actions and is strong, but emphatic at the same time.

THE BROKEN CYCLE - https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/16634/the-broken-cycle

Summary: For centuries, the Lord-Inquisitors of the Church of the Holy Ark have hunted Mindrippers with a single-mindedness that bordered on obsession. In an age of musket and cannon, the hunt leads them to the ancient city of Dilgan where women are being butchered by an unknown killer. Here, Enk Gueye, the young scion of a noble house, wakes from a nightmare to discover he can read—and control—other people’s minds. He thinks he’s a god, but the Lord-Inquisitors have another name for what he has become: Mindripper.

I just started posting Serpent's Kiss, which will be an epic length Space Opera with heavy romance elements. (And an all LGBTQ+ cast.) If that's your thing, come check it out!

https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/29788/serpents-kiss

Duty to the clan is the first lesson every Serpent child learns. Yeijiro, born with no gifts and lacking the skills most valued by the Serpent, has turned his back on that duty, joining the Imperial Marshals to offer direct service to the Emperor herself.

As daughter of the Prime Minister of the Dragon clan, Corinne knows her duty as well, but when a fight with a demon puts Corinne on leave from her beloved Phoenix Guard, her mother takes that opportunity to drag Corinne into the political landscape Corinne has worked all her life to avoid.

A conspiracy against the life of the Emperor sees Corinne and Yeijiro working together, both thrown into the deep end of the Imperial Court, a world of intrigue and sex where all five clans vie for power. Yeijiro’s loyalties are put into question as he must now prove himself to both the Lord Marshal and to Miyōshi Tōru, lord of the clan Yeijiro renounced. While Corinne is drawn into a world of desire and decadence by a mysterious patron who is quite certainly more dangerous than she appears.

Yeijiro and Corinne must find a way to balance the duty they owe their clans against the growing desires of their hearts, or risk not only their own lives, but the life of the Emperor herself.

Hello! I'd like to add my story to the list too since it's nearing its part 1 end.
The Synchronized Six
What would you do if your life, memories, and feelings were suddenly tied to another person?
Six people. One life.
A spoiled prince haunted by a ghost. A big city swindler with a knack for illusions. A cold soldier with a sharp eye. A pirate with a few screws loose. A chieftain’s bookish daughter with carefully bandaged hands. A peacekeeping agent with an eye for vengeance.
After simultaneously knocking on death’s door, these six find themselves psychically connected across national lines. Tensions rise between them and between their respective countries, which are recovering from a long war over the mysterious vitae—an energy source harvested and utilized in weapons and engines called conductors. Loyalty, memory, and sense of self blur as conspiracies encroach.
Assassination attempts, a border conflict, a missing peacekeeping agent, a bar shootout, a tale of a bloodthirsty beast, and the terrorist organization ELPIS.
—Everything is connected. Nothing is coincidental. The spark has ignited…!
