Forum Rules - The Clear, Concise Rules of Forum-venturing

Rules of the Forums v0.1

Many thanks to CynzFirefly for compiling this list.

You know, all forums have at least a few rules to them that one must follow. We need to report the need for people to actually read both the forum rules and chat rules before joining in. They are not that tedious nor long and only have several points to them. In this case, I will point out the general rules in the forums and highlight several differences from the chat rules and the forums rules.

As a result of some filing and forum scavenger, it appears we need a serious forum rule guideline to make it a better environment for people to write in.

Forum Rules

  • Number 1 - We must be kind and respectful to each other in our words as this is a forum.
    --- --- ---

  • Number 2 - No matter how... ...poor a fiction or idea is, we must not crush them with hurtful words nor will we insult the author for being bad.
    --- --- ---

  • Number 3 - Reviewing a fiction should be properly done, please do not just say some random "good job" or "get out of here" or something similar and rate them poorly or at five stars just because you can. A "Review" is an evaluation of a certain event, game, movie... or in this case, a story. You need to at least find some problem or something good about it and tell the author about it. It's a review for a reason. If you want to say "good job" or something small, go to each chapter's comments to post it instead of reviewing the story as a whole.
    --- --- ---

  • Number 4 - Vulgarity, unnecessary harsh words, and swearing in posts can be deleted without notice and may possibly net you a warning. In conclusion: don't do it.
    --- --- ---

  • Number 5 - If you have a problem or issue on the forums, please contact the staff to help you and not post a childish tantrum that insults people even if they are not the target.
    ---

  • Number 5.1 - Speaking of contacting the staff. There are different kinds of problems that are addressed by different levels of staff.

  • Number 5.2 - Anything related the forum posts, writing and comments can be dealt with by Moderators, so contact the forum Moderators and they will help you. If they cannot, they will ask a Super Moderator or an Admin in this sequence. This will relieve some pressure from the Admins who already have a hard time dealing with forum coding and maintaining the site.

  • Number 5.3 - Problems with the fiction itself, reviews and threads will be dealt with by Super Moderators (or Senior Moderator). Try to contact the super moderators for these kind of problems or moderators for them to pass on the message to the super moderators. Admins can help you with this if they are free, but please don't contact them if you can since they work on the coding and forum structure itself.

  • Number 5.4 - When the website is down or there is a problem with viewing the forum, posting problems and structural problems, the best would be to contact the Admins as they deal with this kind of thing. Try not to message the moderators or super moderators unless the admins do not reply or they forget to check their messages.
    --- --- ---

  • Number 6 - Just like in chat, please don't post any explicit (not safe for work/NSFW) content that is rated 18+ in the forums. Sexual imagery, videos and severely graphic writing (that is not part of a story and marked out properly) will be deleted. You will be warned not to do it again. If this problem persists you will be banned from the forums. Like Wing has said: We are Child-Friendly Penguins.
    --- --- ---

  • Number 7 - Spam, content repetition and useless comments that do not have anything to do with the story in the comment section of the chapter will be removed. Please don't keep on posting them again and again or you will be warned. If it persists, you will be banned.
    --- --- ---

  • Number 8 - Like in chat, annoying or angering the Admins and moderators is not a good idea. Although the forums are more lenient in a way than the chat, don't push it or you'll be banned. It's easy to avoid this: don't do it.
    --- --- ---

  • Number 9 - Even when there is a disagreement between people, please be civil with each other when debating; don't start swearing and insulting their persons just because you didn't think that a story is great or such.
    --- --- ---

  • Number 10 - Remember not to spoil stories in the forums unless it is in a dedicated thread for discussing the story in question. It is not very nice when a person is reading a story and someone suddenly says what happens in a post that is not marked with "discussing that story" or something to that effect.
    --- --- ---

  • Number 11 - As always, there are supplementary rules that should be followed loosely. Unlike the main 10 (which can be changed and switched later on when needed), these rules can result in warnings but not usually bans outright unless someone is taking it too far. Please read up on the supplementary rules when they have been posted.
    --- --- ---

  • Number 12 - The sharing of pirated content or the sharing of ways to bypass systems or rules established by the site - will be removed. Repeated posting could get you banned.
