I don't know if there are things I deliberately put in multiple stories, but things I notice as patterns over multiple pieces (often of very different genres):
- Slightly sarcastic blink and you miss jokes
Sometimes they work really well, sometimes they are a miss. I have to get second opinions on these.
- Symbology that just sort of crept in (flowers, birds, the weather, gemstones, wine, etc.) and now I can't unsee it, so I have to put more in to make it look intentional.
- Someone eating or drinking and I spent too much time describing the sensations of the look/texture/smell/taste/temperature/setting/sounds of eating because *I wanted to be there eating that.*
