Re: How High Is RR standard toward its fiction?

I tried Amazon KU and ended up forgetting about it until a year later when I realized they did the whole automatically start charging you money after the free trial thing.
Relatively speaking, I think Royal Road is on the higher end. Scribblehub is not as good, but I'm pretty sure that one is better for looking for porn.

0.5 stars.
This is why I think RR has high standard lol.

Royal Road strikes me as having the same or similar standards as readers on AO3, especially depending on the fandom AO3 readership can be outright viscous in what you post there if it isn't up to snuff. Smaller fandoms might not have the luxury of hundreds or thousands of well written works, but even they have standards.

Readers are either forgiving to an absurd degree, decent in their expectations, extreme perfectionists, insane, and/or biased purely from personal things. So....human. Sometimes.

Being new to the site, and having experience with traditional publishing and other similar sites, I think RR's general standards are somewhat above what I have seen as the average for amateur/first time author free online fiction. It's not as high as anything that would involve an actual editor, agent, or even beta-readers or a writing feedback group, but the filtering mechanics (ratings, reviews, and the search function) here tend to make it easier to cull the lower-quality works that I wouldn't be interested in or would be frustrated by than the mechanics on some other sites.
