Who needs a cover?
#1
Hi everyone!
I have seen on the forum some people in need of a cover, and since my backlog is in good health, I don't mind helping some folks out. You can check some of my covers on my signature (I also make individual covers for volumes and have helped some other authors.)
My methods are the following:
- I usually base the main illustration with ai generator (stable diffuse, rarely with DallE-2); I do have the licence, and I work with Nightcafe.com
- Setup is performed with Canva.com, which also has the license, so there is no problem with commercial use. All fonts and assets are paid for from my own pocket, so once more, they can be used for commercial purposes.
- I also have the license for Clip Paint Ex assets, but honestly would like to avoid having to use it. Digital art takes way more time than I'm willing to put in. (I do have to procreate, but I feel more comfortable drawing on my PC than on my iPad)
The covers are free. I won't charge a penny as long as you don't ask me to draw anything. If you want total human work, then we need to talk fee per hour.
My latest works can be found on my Instagram (not all digital work is there, I have some on my PC): @larareispoetry - also posted on the same Twitter username, but you need to go back to 2021
If you feel generous, you can review or shoutout on of my fiction or all of them if you feel like it. I do think it is a lot of fun building covers.
WHAT I NEED:
Author:
Title:
Summary of what you want to see on the cover: (I advise keeping it simple, remember it will be a thumbnail most of the time)
Palette of colour: (The main colours you want to see - white and black are not colours)
Moodboard: (collection of images, references, colours, and examples you have seen.)
FAQ: Nobody asked but let's play pretend
Do you do anime style?
Ai can generate anime art, but you need to give it references as the authors, and it is not guaranteed it will create the exact style you want. It usually mixes them, and personally, because they are so in vogue right now, I feel very uncomfortable doing so. I created my own style on the site, and I want to keep it. Besides, there are creators on RR who draw and create them with mastery.
How many revisions can I make to the cover you created?
I'm calculating 20 credits per person, and I won't pass these margins. If you are not happy with the end result, it is ok, but I won't spend more than that.
What if it is the font and location of certain elements?
If those elements are added from Canva I can change them with no limits. Unless you don't like the fonts I have used and don't have what you need, I will ask you to search for what you want, and if they are not free, you'll be requested to pay the license ( the prize range of 20 to 60 euros)
I have the image. Could you edit it to make it look like a cover?
Yes, but:
Is the image from the public domain, or do you have by written the consent of the original author?
What is the quality of the image
and is it NSFW?
Now, after all this long bla-bla here are some images:
Chainbreaker:

Okay! Hi again. Me again. I am sorry to have kept you waiting but I was out of the house for the day. So now, here is the info about my Humorous Space Western Furries story.
The story is called QueerSpace - all one word with a capital Q and a capital S (or just all caps if you prefer, like this - QUEERSPACE)
In it, humans have learned how to terraform planets, splicing together DNA to make plants and animals that are unique to each planet. Along the way, humans found that they can have animal DNA spliced into their genes too, viewing it as a fashion statement, like how people these days get piercings or tattoos.
The story is Episodic, written like an anime series, much like how my series called The VocaLords is written, only with longer Episodes. It started as a Contest entry where I was given these three pictures as prompts to write a story:
The story of QueerSpace is that the girl on the monocycle used to be an intergallactic bounty hunter, along with the woman who looks like a horse - like how Cowboy Bebop is written. The gentleman in the third picture is a bounty the two women team up together one more time to hunt -- a man with jackal DNA in him (he shaves his body because he doesn't like his fur.)
So the man is 'sort of' innocent, and becomes the boyfriend of the girl. The threesome become space merchants after teaming up with a Hindu woman who has cow DNA in her. She looks mostly human, like this:
With each Episode, new characters join the team. So now there is a woman who is a little bat-girl, and her very short boyfriend, who is a biker bunny rabbit:
Both are covered in fur. The girl likes going topless because of her wings, and her boyfriend dresses in leather because he rides a motor scooter.
Right now I have a cover now, but it is just words. It also doesn't have my name on it, which is R.D.Burger with no spaces:
I wouldn't mind using the image of the words, centering them in a square and surrounding them with any or all six of the story's Main Characters - again, kind of like how Cowboy Bebop does for its covers:
I also like how The Quintessial Quintuplets does their covers:
I have been given permission to use all these images (with the exception of the cow-woman) by the people who first posted them, but I cannot guarantee that they are public domain. I do, however, have two pictures that were given to me by a Royal Road user named Denexen, who made images of the redhead and the horse-woman for me:
I like them very much, and the images are all mine, but I do wish that the redead was dressed in cowboy garb, and the horse looked more like a woman, especially in the shoulders and the eyes.
Okay! So that is it! Everything I have about my story and the MCs. You may use any of this information that I've given, or ignore all of it completely. I am sure that whatever you come up with will not only be very cool, but also will be better than the cover I have right now.
And thank you Lara! Very much!
Oh. And P.S. Yes there are Space Cowboy Kitties, but they play a minor role. The cow woman takes on board the spaceship (did I mention there is a spaceship?) three tiny teenage siblings who are triplets -- two girls and one boy. They are roly-poly lots of fun, and like doing nothing better than causing mayhem and creating mischief. The team finds them to be scarcely worth the trouble they cause, but too cute to kick off the ship.
I suppose that they are also good at catching bugs and mice.
They are called the Dango Triplets - Berry, Nilla and Matcha (the boy) because the color of their fur makes them look like Sanshoku Dango on a stick:
Oh! They are so naughty! And oh so kawaii!! ❤🐱😸😼❤

Hello!
First off, thank you for doing this. I have a cover for my main story, but I have a little something that I'm working on sporadically that I think the readers on the site will like, but the cover is also really, really simple. The work you've done looks very professional, so if it's something you're interested in, I'd love to see the final result.
Author: Flossindune
Title: "The 100th Run" or just "100th Run" (whichever looks better)
Summary of what you want to see on the cover: Title up top, name at the bottom, though I'm not picky about font as long as it's readable. In between is a more draconic-appearing ouroboros with "x99 => 100" in smaller letters to the lower right side of it. The arrow would probably look best as a simple arrow, but I'll defer to the artist and just add what I'm thinking in the moodboard.
Palette of colour: Black (not a color) but with the lettering and the ouroboros should be predominately gold and silver. I'm quite fond of the Royal Road logo. actually.
Moodboard:
And really just a super simple arrow

Shaggy black hair, brown eyes with light skin. He's lean, but teetering on the skinny side. His initial outfit is black and green, and if you want to include him then the tattoo could be on the back of his right hand.

It took me almost 100 runs to get this one right. I hope you like it.
I tried only the snake and the arrow and didn't like it. tried as a tattoo but would end up like a Wattpad cover
tried it centre and just looked wrong, so ta-da! personally, I like this one and works well as a thumbnail.

Are you still offering cover art? I did some self art with MS paint, but they are....MS paint done by a mechanic with no artistic talent. I would be interested if your services are still available. I'm not looking for holy crap fancy, just a better version of what I already have. For your criteria from the Original Post(for the three titles I have):
Author: Stabbybaby
Title: Guild of Grandfathers, Bubbah Yaga, Due Dead West
Summary of what you want to see on the cover: A better quality version of what I already made would be fine, thumbnails in signature.
Palette of colour: GoG(industrial or modern feel, so metals or linoleum think of a super clean retirement home) Bubbah Yaga (witches hat with colored stars representing incarnations of morning, noon, and night), Due Dead West (it was supposed to be a horse hitching post with a watering trough, I tried to draw a human skull too, but had to scrap it as stick figures are almost at the limit of my personal capability)
Moodboard: (collection of images, references, colours, and examples you have seen.) thumbnails in my signature? I am a fan of cartoonish or silliness such as the covers for Robert Aspirins myth series, Or Sir Terry Pratchet's Discworld series.
Thanks in advance for your time.

This looks great, thank you so much for going out of your way and helping me out!
I'm going to post the prologue tomorrow, but I'll credit you in the synopsis and give a shoutout in my next chapter of Dungeon Inspector, too.
Thank you, I love it!
