Cover art

#1
I was wondering what the best option for a nice book cover would be. I'm not much of an artist myself and a lot of the templates online aren't the best and don't quite suit what I'm looking for. I've seen some amazing covers on here and I was hoping to get your input! Thanks in advance!

I'd recommend Midjourney. You have to use Discord, but even a free version you can generate 25 free pictures. If you know exactly what you want and what prompt to use, you can get your cover image without paying. It is not copyrightable, though, as far as I understand.

Thank you I'll give it a try and see how things shake out. For now, I just need a good placeholder. I can worry about commissioning art I can use later on so this is quite helpful, though I am still open to other options as well haha

Feel free to ask me for pointers if you can't wrap your head around all the possibilities. Here's a good starting point:

Unless you get a subscription for midjourney you can't use images generated for commercial use. I don't know how they'd know but better to avoid the trouble alltogether

You can't sell the art generated by them, but you can still use it for a cover image for your story.

You can't sell the art period. And if you generate it, it is not under copyright, so if you use it in your cover image, it's not yours. That becomes debatable when you edit it, though.

But to use it in your story cover image, it should be fine.
