For Authors: Post your story promotion as a reply to this thread.
You can get creative, or you can just post the description, image(if available), and your word count. But most importantly your Royal Road fiction link.
Note: This is somewhat of a first-come, first-served basis, as the earlier you reply, the more likely your description will be read first. This is why this thread for self-promotions is monthly-based (to not overflow it). At the start of next month, we will have a new thread, and you can promote your story there again.
For Readers: Did you want more lists to find stories from? well... here is another one, give the stories a shot!
You can also use this subforum to promote your fiction https://www.royalroad.com/forums/5689
Summary: Before everything, it’s assumed there was nothing, but what if there was no real difference between the two? Just two extreme philosophies from the original conflict.
The planet Huom has been under observation for longer than should technically be possible. The primary watcher, a bitter black-hole, is excited to see that there is finally a proverbial Darkness at the end of the tunnel.
Meanwhile on the planet, in the freezing mountains of Empris, Lyeasrakardsul, the oldest living sorcerer suffers from devastating nightmares. At the same time — far away in the sandstone desert of Zenon — Herschel, a man filled to the brim with strange ideas is escaping a prison filled with strange old men.
What does all this have to do with arsehole Gods, hairy Dwarfs, frustrated Afreets, curious Knomes, lizard-women, and nude Áettar? Perhaps Nothing, perhaps Everything… but why can’t it be both?
The Homunculus Knight
"The town of Glockmire has lived under the iron-fisted rule of Vampires for centuries. Its people long cowed into submission by the ruling Nocturnal Nobles. In this land, the Undead rule, and the living know nothing but fear and servitude. This bleak status quo now faces challenges from without and within. Arriving in Glockmire is Cole, a wandering hunter of the Undead. Who wields sacred powers while hiding a profane nature. Hoping to fulfilling his sacred mission, Cole crosses paths with a local named Natalie. A silver-tongued young woman who has lost much to these cursed lands. Together they uncover a terrible secret that might save Glockmire or drown it in blood."
Try this Witcher-esque Nobledark fantasy series now into its second book. Come for the gritty yet not hopeless High Fantasy. Stay for the world-building and characters. No Isekai or Litrpg elements. Just a classic fantasy tale about a Divinely Chosen Warrior on a quest, and a clever young Woman who gets way in over her head. Expect gritty combat, scary monsters and good people looking for what good they can find in the world.
Grace Pastel is a young girl who lives a cozy life in Jubilife city with her father, and for her, Pokemon battles are just something that she watches on television or online. Entertainment to be seen at a distance. After turning fifteen, she watched as young people her age got ready for their first journey across Sinnoh, all aiming to become the Champion. She usually scoffed at them, wondering how one could throw away a comfortable life in the city to risk their lives in the wild for an unobtainable goal. And yet when she was asked by her father to deliver a package to her mother living two towns over, something clicked in her brain.
Suddenly, she decided that she wanted to be the very best.
The Butterfly Effect is written as a series of moderately independent stories, bound together by a common world. Join a wide range of characters—from nobility to commoners to those barely able to be described as human—on their trips of exploration and discovery of the world around them. Below are short descriptions of each story published so far; they can be read out of volume order, though I would suggest everyone starts at Departure. Who knows, one of these stories may even tell of the event that started it all…
Departure- Follow the young Prince Natheniel on his way towards making the biggest mistake of his life—one that affects much more than him.
Secrets of the Ley Lines- A group of teens set out to not only uncover bits of the past but also find themselves in the Labyrinth, home of the Minotaur.
Bloodline- Tavin, with the prompting of his spirits, goes on a trip to understand his bloodline and the kind of power he possesses.
Rebellion- Lucas and his odd band of magic users stand up against the king and start a new future for Seothia.
Mystery of Nadia Mikah- Enebish is given their first detective case, though they aren’t ready for all that they discover.
The Stone Family Adventure- Lydia finds a way to live what has already been lost… perhaps at the expense of losing something else. [updates Mon/Wed/Fri]
What Time Forgot- A collection of short stories ranging from little scenes or events to longer ones dedicated to specific characters.
Twin NPCs Llewel and Myr don’t have something that all the others do: a code they’re supposed to follow. When they get the chance to leave their home and learn who they truly are, it’s not quite in the way that they expected. Still, no amount of preparing could help them uncover the things that may be best left forgotten.
In the Side Story, follow Casrane and her companions as they play through the game’s original story. She thought she knew what she was getting herself into, but things are turning out to be a lot more complex than she thought…
These two parts are important to understand the past, the present, and the future of these characters. Only with them—and perhaps some perspectives of others—can the true events be discovered.
Updates weekly on Saturdays.
Deepness of loneliness, racing in an abyss of blackness, trailing hands of shadows. Shackling to the land, longness of silence. No longer willing in enduring, breaking free of her restraints. Seeking a desire far inside, countless more existing within. Birthing underneath the light of the blood moon, embracing her selfishness and imperfections. Shouting what is within, never ending turmoil. Continuously falling, rising even stronger. Mirroring hearts, both of the same. Haziness of memories, wars of grandness. Stepping on a plain far above her own, her heart of softness. A night of eternity coming, bringing demise in the wake of her despair.
"There is light in the deepest of darkness..."
Millisecond: Superspeed is a curse!
A high school girl gets superspeed but there are two problems:
1. While it's active, her perception is also sped up, making her spend days effectively on her own.
2. She can't control when it's active. It just cycles off and on every hour or so, and slowly skews to full-time.
If that doesn't sound like hell yet, it will.
The story follows Milly's attempts to understand her power, be a hero, and stay sane. While superpowers are pretty common in her world, they aren't all made equal and Milly's power is several leagues above the norm, even for most superheroes. It turns out that there's really not much of a fight to be had when the opposition doesn't even have time to blink, which just makes it even harder for her to find something interesting to do. Thankfully, she has the support of her girlfriend, Niki, while she learns about herself and the super world. She'll have to deal with new friends, feelings, superheroes/villains, mysteries, and most of all her own power threatening to alienate her from everything else.
The story will involve:
- Poorly supervised teens.
- Exploration of various superpowers.
- Cute lesbian/yuri romance.
A Tragic Space Opera.
No one-dimensional villians, no overpowered MCs, no plot armour, no gimmicky Systems.
Exosuits, Mayhem, Chaos. A weak protagonist gets his normal life and expectations shattered by those who covet him. Progression included.
These are the adventures of BLUE EAGLE and SWITCH THE BLUE EAGLET."

The civil war in Kalos is barely over, but forces are already forming underground with only one goal: to overthrow the new government. Sal, on the other hand, knows nothing about war or politics. She only wants one thing: to escape from her orphanage and enjoy a life of freedom. On the day of her flight, she not only meets her first Pokémon, but also falls into the hands of the rebellious forces. A fateful encounter that would change her life forever.
Pokémon: A Sense of Illusion follows an orphaned 12-year-old girl who, through a twist of fate, falls into the hands of a conspiratorial group of anti-government activists who see violence as a necessary means to achieve their goals. As implied by the title, they mainly use Pokemon for this.
If you're interested in a story that has complex characters that evolve and shape their environment as much as it shapes them, you've probably come to the right place. Don't expect a moral guide. There is neither right nor wrong. Each character has their own personal goals and acts within the framework of their own values, even if these can sometimes take on extremist traits.
It's also a bit of a coming-of-age story about a girl in an environment that's incredibly harmful to her, but does good things for her.
If you feel like reading my story... I would be very happy about a review or a rating. Thanks!
Set in a fantasy world occupied by the United Nations, a young peacekeeper is garrisoning an irrelevant town in a relatively stable, boring region.
He signed up to take pictures, see the new world, perhaps write a book about it, to see the war...for adventure.
But one day, in just another dull, boring guard duty, he is suddenly pulled to rescue an ambushed convoy - not knowing that now, he will get what he signed up for.
Daily chapter releases!
The Majority always gets what it wants.
Thomas just wishes the galactic mob known as the Majority didn’t want him. There’s no way to escape thirty trillion mind readers, no way to refuse them, no way to hide from a collective that owns the top technology and best minds in existence, no way to pretend that he’s just like his foster family and other average Americans.
Because Thomas invented a way to save his own life. His custom medicine halts the progress of his neuromuscular degenerative disease. Newscasters proclaim him as the next Da Vinci or Einstein. Silly humans have no idea about Thomas’s sordid alien parentage or his bioengineered processing capacity, which rivals that of a supercomputer.
They just think he’s smart.
However, there are other bioengineered super-geniuses in the galactic mob. Super-geniuses shepherd the Majority. Some of them, such as the sweet little girl known as the Death Architect, are secretly trying to engineer opportunities to break free from Majority constraints so that they can invent weapons of planetary annihilation and become unchallenged masters of all living things.
If Thomas is going to end the utopian tyranny of super-geniuses and their sycophants and slaves, he will need more than cunning. He will need social skills. Oh, and power. Lots and lots and lots and loads of power.
It’s a good thing his friendly foster sister has befriended a colossal superman. Ariock is clueless about his own dangerous powers, bioengineered by super-geniuses but outlawed by the Majority. Ariock wrongly assumes that he’s just an overgrown loser.
Super-humans like Ariock are doomed to die as gladiators, entertainment fodder for the Majority. Unless Thomas can figure out a way to trick thirty trillion mind readers…
And so the journey to greatness begins.
✴ Dual protagonists. One brain, one brawn. Progression for both of them.
✴ Multi-POV because sometimes you gotta see reactions & outside perspectives.
✴ A complete story in seven novels. I will post the entire epic for free prior to publication.
What is the setting of World Concept?
There are about eight hundred full-colour illustrations eating away at my hard drives as of this current moment, plus a world map to keep track of where the three protagonists are at all times. Readers who like to put faces to names will definitely have fun reading through the story.
Thank you very much, and here's to a good year ahead of us all!
For Callie Archer, the day had started out awful and went downhill from there. From the terrible job interview to the strange woman in the oversized hat that pushed her in front of a train, things were just not going her way. Awakening to find herself in the body of a Gnome and in a strange, fantastic world of Ogres, Elves, Fae, and magic, Callie must not only survive this strange new world, but try to find a way back home. It doesn't help that she's also conscripted into the army, and will literally die if she doesn't fight the hordes of demons rampaging across the land.
Has been getting great reviews and feedback (4.68 rating at this time). About 30,000 words posted so far, and I have another 120k in the hopper to post on a routine basis going forward.

Well, no. The chances you're familiar with usually come with a society or set of rules already being followed by the people there. Unfortunately, this new world has nothing.
Or in this case, only Michael.
Not only is this world terrifyingly lonesome for humans, but it is also filled with monstrous creatures that threaten the very safety of any human.
Will Michael survive in this world? Or will he perish and be replaced by the next survivor.
Within the modern world of Spiravale, the reverence and allure of magic go unchallenged. Climbing through the ranks carries a gripping appeal that calls on all and the necessity of protection requires numerous souls to answer, though few tread far.
