Need a martial art for my character
#1
Hello, there
I am on the verge of writing something new, and it will be martial art based with lots of hand-to-hand fights.
That being said, I envision a sorta sloppy fighting style for my main character. Where he is very light on his feet, and his movements are irregular, making it seem as though he has no idea what he is doing, but it's all according to plan. Oh, and with powerful hand strikes as well.
Does anybody here know any martial arts that I can draw further inspiration from and possibly mention as the character's fighting style (maybe I can say it is a mix) in the story?
Btw, this is an acrobatic 16-year-old boy who has gone through extensive training throughout most of his life, including gymnastics.
I know it is not a good idea to be too technical when describing attack moves from characters, but I really want the MC to have a distinct style from other characters and would like to see if there are sources I can draw even more inspiration from.
Thanks for the help!

The only martial art that makes me think 'sloppy' is drunken boxing, which mimics inebriated movements to throw off the opponents focus. Plus, you can go watch Jackie Chan's 'The Drunken Master' for some inspiration, although the real martial art doesn't actually involve drinking, any more than 'crane style' requires eating cranes. :P

Just go to the wiki page of Kengan ashura \ Omega. 'Baki', 'street fighter', or maybe even 'guilty gear'. (They are all games \ mangas)
It's a manga about marital arts.
My favorite was Kiryu Setsuna, titled 'the beautiful beast'. he was able to time the exact moment in which his opponents blinked, and in that instant, he moved in higher speed to catch them off guard. With his ability 'Rakshasa's Palm' he was able to bend and twist his entire arm, mid strike, with such speed that it caused a whirl on impact. Bending flesh and bones alike.
There are others of course, for the acrobatic part. There was a fighter who was once a ballerina, with his dance moves like fighting style, his kick gained immense power (but I though it was a bit lame, he also lost right on the beginning.
Maybe Tokita Ohma style would be a good choice for a fighting style, he is a bit of a all rounder.
You could see more about him here https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/Tokita_Ohma
A small note about his abilities:
His Redirection Kata allowed him to use the enemies force against them, almost like judo, but more unrealistic.
His mastery over this kata allowed him to redirect his enemies force and make them fly in the air.
But to keep it all simple, for the acrobatic choice, chose Capoeira, its a dance like fighting style that mainly uses the legs, known for it unpredictable attacks and swift kicks.

I am a fan of both Street Fighter and Guilty Gear. I don't know why I didn't think about looking at the wikis sooner, thanks!
I'm going to check this Tokita Ohma as well.

For an injection of silliness, you could name it something like, "Floppy bacon, Crispy texture style." and just have the character flail randomly with slaps of noodle like flexibility of arms and legs. On a more serious side, drunken boxing may offer some inspiration.
