Where should I be?
#1
Hey Writers,
I've got about 40 chapters up, which is 1/2 of the book. The book will come in at 129,000 words. So at this point does anyone have a clue where I should be in terms of readers, or comments, or reviews?
Second Question: Once I finish posting chapters I guess I expect the number of new readers to decline because I won't be updating the book. Is there anyway to keep attracting people to the book once it is complete?
Thanks for the help,
--Kidd

Looking at your stats I'd say you're doing quite well, probably above average. Though it's hard to say an average since everyone's stories do quite differently depending on a wild variety of factors.

^ I agree! Looks like you're doing very well - especially for not having LitRPG/Portal/Prog tags.
Since I'm on a break between volumes at the moment, I can attest that once you stop posting, things tend to screech to a halt. I don't know how that would work if you never plan to post again for that story. Others probably have experience with that. It probably comes down to releasing other fictions and then getting cross-interest.

To add to Classy’s solid advice: You can keep readers trickling in by engaging on the forums or running ads. One is free, and the other is not—but if you have a little extra cash it’s a good way to give back to RR.
Cross-posting your story on other platforms like Wattpad or Webnovel and/or marketing on social media is a fourth option.

You are doing well, better than I am and I'm not far behind in terms of word count.

From the main page, scroll all the way down and on the bottom right, under the ADVERTISING heading, you'll find Ads for Authors. Then open up the Campaign Dashboard and have at it. :) Rectangle ads do better than the leaderboard ads, from what I've heard.

Others probably have experience with that. It probably comes down to releasing other fictions and then getting cross-interest.That's actually what I've done, so I have some insight on what that's like.
I have four fics in the same series that all link to each other in the synopsis, first chapter (if the story is relevant to another), and final chapters. With a small/moderate viewership (50-100 views total per day), my stories have anywhere from 10-25 weekly sessions that got there from the links on my other stories. The cross-interest seems to have gotten much higher as I release more fictions, since it wasn't anywhere near that high when I had, say, two stories. Back then, I only got 2-6 weekly "cross-sessions".
And it's true that once you finish a story and mark it as completed, your follower count is most likely going to either stagnate or drop, and views will probably start rolling in slower. But that's just the naturally progression of a story -- it's either going to finish or go on hiatus one day, hopefully the former!
