Re: Promote your story with your MC's weapon of choice

It honestly depends on the situation. My main MC, Gíla Arsinoe, is set to use a Warhammer throughout most of the story but will sometimes use a sword, ax, spear, etc. She is also sometimes forced to use her fists to beat down the enemy despite her not wanting to due to the trauma of the last time she did. My secondary MCs - Jira ne'Jiral and Orlantha Quills - use a longsword and rapier, respectively. The different styles that go into the weapons are fun to research and throw into a fantasy aspect - either to use accurately or completely forgo in favor of the Rule of Cool.

Both characters wield what is known as the Cyntaff (pronounced with a hard C i.e. Kin-Taff), a pair of golden rings known colloquially as the most powerful weapons in the universe. The Cyntaff are conduits to phenomenal power and represent a lineage that has existed since the dawn of time. By wearing the Cyntaff the ring-bearer is granted access to The Sight, allowing them to see and manipulate energy across the electromagnetic spectrum. They are surrounded by a light aura at all times that can bend, soften and harden at will (creating light shields and ropes). They also shoot super heated plasma offensively and retain all the skills and memories of all their direct predecessors making them one of the greatest warriors in the universe.

"Amarkai" is a term present in the Amaranthian lexicon that doesn't have a direct human equivalent. The closest translation would be "Family Blade" or "Namesake Tool", but even these aren't necessarily correct. What an Amarkai actually IS is a full tang shortsword, typically 60-120 cm long. The main material for the blade and tang is Tiberite, or "Nuclear Pasta"; the hyperdense crystalline material found within the crust of neutron stars. Because of the immense cost of procuring the materials for Amarkais, they are incomprehensibly valuable and rare, typically only found in the hands of an Amaranthian family's patron. They serve as a status symbol, and each one is unique to the family it belongs to. The one featured belongs to Octavia Tiberius, grand-niece of the Empress and main character of The Shattered Heavens.

Amarkais are forged with a single nanometre of width along the blade, a sharpness which hardly if ever dulls. However, they are also incredibly heavy and generally require a heavily augmented amaranthian to wield properly. In the hands of a properly-trained swordsman, an amarkai can be more deadly in close quarters than any ranged weapon. But in the hands of the average amaranthian, an amarkai is simply a status symbol of incomprehensible value and significance.

Shindo East, the titular Gadgeteer of my story uses a lot of weapons and gadgets he makes in order to fight his opponents.  As of now he has two irl weapons and a made up weapon he uses constantly and shifts between them in order to adapt to different scenarios.

IRL weapons:
- For when he has to fight at close combat, Shindo mainly uses an extendable, metal-based Baton-Polearm which he uses un order to fight his enemies at a range and deliver blunt blows, while allowing him to control the distance between him and his opponents.
- His second most prevalent weapon is a bundle of small metal darts which he uses to either harm or distract his enemies at a distance, much in the same manner as Batman uses his batarangs.

Made up weapon:
- When he is fighting metahumans, Shindo uses what he calls "controllers". Controllers look like small metalic pyramids that can fit on the palm of a grown man. A visual and accurate representation of the controller is on the signature picture bellow (on the bottom right). The controller basically serves as an AOE superpower disruptor grenade, which temporarily targets and disables superpowers that either generate or absorb heat/energy in a radius within itself. The disruption process is very painful, as it is done in a forceful manner. It can leave a metahuman affected by it stunned in pain or can even knock them down. Shindo uses this gadget in order to give himself more of an advantage in a fight.

In the case he is disarmed, Shindo usually fights with a kick based MMA fighting style, usually combining short burst techniques from Muay Thai and ITF Tae Kwon Do.

Natheniel, the MC of the first story in The Butterfly Effect, wields both swords and magic. He’s most familiar with broadswords (more for ancestral purposes, since one of his adoptive family’s ancestors wielded one) and the world’s version of black magic (that he, for other reasons, is immune to the usual problems involved in using it).

The MCs of The Twins of Masylm both use daggers, as it’s the class weapon for thieves. Eventually, one is going to wield a gun (thus why he’s holding one in the volume art) and the other will wield magic daggers.

I call it a Farmer's Spear.
The type of makeshift weapon you shove into a farmers hand when they are drafted into the militia or forced to defend their walls from bandits or monster waves.
It's essentially a pole or staff with a small iron pointed cap wedged on top of it for thrusting down from walls or up into monsters.
Homunculi 6 wields it poorly to start as the rough wood causes their hands to bleed, but they simplicity of thrust sweep thrust is quickly apparent.

It is hard to call it a weapon of "choice" because she did not actually choose it and was instead granted this weapon. Her Artifact is a floating orb that follows her position and attacks with energy blasts on her command it also has various abilities and with what I have posted so far the current ability it gained is one that allows it to completely freeze enemy movement within a small area.

Hopefully we'll be seeing more of Shindo using those controllers soon!

My character in my still-unpublished WIP dual wields extendable batons. Not much else to say there.

The titular Blue Eagle of The Adventures of BLUE EAGLE uses no weapons and needs no weapons, for he is a superhero!
