Considering posting my work... question about RR

#1
Hey all,

I've got a fantasy novel that I'm considering posting to RR as well as possibly other reading sites. At the same time, I'm watching my kids lose their everlovin' minds over their favorite webcomics on Webtoons, and one of the things that they love most is that good, moody music will play at the right time as they scroll through the story. Does RR have the same kind of capability? Is that something that novel readers https://tweakbox.mobi/ https://tutuappx.com/ might enjoy in the same way that they do for webcomics? Just looking for some outside perspectives. TYIA

No, RoyalRoad doesn't do the whole music thing. In fact, I think the only web fiction platform that did have that sort of capacity was Tapas. They don't have it anymore.

I don't know about the various phone apps reading platforms. However, I advise you to stay away from a great deal of them. They are right there next to scams and are writer unfriendly. The two platforms I know that do have apps, Neovel and Fictionate.me don't have that sort of thing either.

The only way for you to do that sort of thing is making your own website.

something like this:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/OpCD4WfY-68" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

No clue how to get it to work on the forums but it will work in your fiction. press the little <> and just copy paste the above. It should look like a video once you click out of 'view source'

You can get this directly from youtube (share->embed>ctrl+c the text) or just replace everything after 'src=' with the link to what you want.

Check out: https://www.royalroad.com/forums/thread/55374. It has an exact example using soundcloud.
