People will absolutely read it before, during and after hiatus. A lot of it is going to be people who just now found it, and most of them probably won't even pay enough attention to your chapter release dates enough to even realize there ever was a hiatus - they're just going to notice the new chapters as they come out.

If it's any reassurance, back on FFnet stuff would go on hiatus for literal years and people would still read it. Even stuff where the author was completely inactive for years, they got new reviews. And then sometimes those kinds of stories would end up updating out of nowhere, and people would be stoked to see it return to activity.

Speaking from experience; yes they will. I went on Hiatus when I died from illness, and burn out. And I am on a half hiatus right now because I am moving and being given unclear instructions of when. Once I move going back to regular scheduling. But if people like it, they will come back. Shoot I'll read it to support you after the hiatus. 

I recently returned, and most of my frequent commenters came back too. So, some people will return. Not all.

Sure, if your story is good. There's one that I read a few months ago and its still on my mind. I even went so far as to join the discord group to see why the author went MIA.

That time, I had a sinus infection and I am not going to edit chapters while I am sick.

I am now moving, and not going to edit chapters while I am moving either. Luckily I am moving May 31st and then I can get back onto schedule

I'm sure they will! If your worried about it, maybe gradually bring it back or advertise it on any social medias you may have, even on the website if you can!
