Infernal Academia

-----

The wrathful Oni, warlike and bloodthirsty.
The edacious Gluttons, insatiable and all-consuming.
The covetous Fallen, green-eyed wind-walkers.
The miserly Imps, thieves of all they see.
The indolent Golems, still as the earth.
The conceited Nymphs, upon pedestals of gold.
And the alluring Succubi, mistresses of the night.
Demons one and all, but people nonetheless.
Everybody has a right to an education, and the doors of the Brimstone Institute of Demonics is open to all, no matter what Sin they stand for.

So it says on the school's brochure.  But it really ought to say something about the rambunctious students, the snarky teachers, the constant fights, the animosity between class groups, the antiquated living conditions, the derelict school buildings and the constant sense of feeling as though one is being watched.  And try as he might, it will take more than kind words and a hopeful attitude for Cobalt Trayer to survive in such a hectic environment.  Not one to resort to violence, he will have to find it within himself to circumvent the numerous problems he will face from the student populace of B.I.D. - be they physical, emotional or... well... the other kind of physical.  But as a man of wills, he'll survive.

Even if he's picked on.
Even if he's attacked.
And even if he's a certain kind of demon that no-one has ever seen before...

The poem lost me for a good second. But That Opening Line (mantra) got me clinched.

Need to take time to read it.

Link: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/49475/city-of-mages

Synopsis:
Born a fire mage, destined for something greater.

For hundreds of years, Sombria has lived in peace thanks to the delicate balance the Council fosters between those with magic and those without. But unrest is brewing under the surface of Sombria, and the Council's tenuous hold may be on the verge of collapsing.

All Alara ever wanted was to become a soldier, fighting to protect Sombria from the bruya rebels that threaten its borders with their chaotic magic and lawlessness. In order to succeed, she must first conquer her worst fear--her own innate magical abilities.

Quenti, raised to hate the oppressive thumb of the Council, has only ever wanted a life of peace away from those who wish to control her. When her abilities are revealed, she finds herself at the center of a world she grew up despising, where magic is suppressed under the illusion of control. And her only means of escape may lie in trusting those she grew up doubting most.

When Alara is given one final chance to prove she's worthy of being called a Mage of Sombria, the key to her success may lie within the untrusting Quenti. And Quenti doesn't plan on making things easy. Though as their two lives come crashing together, trusting each other may be the only choice they have to survive what's coming.

Summary This is the journey of a Young Doctor named Gabrio who was assigned to the Grand Fleet of the Reconnoiter Company, aboard the Grand-Galleon called the Milostiv, which is set to sail to the lands that could not be traversed before the invention of the armaments that could penetrate the scale of the monsters living there. They hope sail to the thousand islands to find wonders and new lands to settle. The Grand Fleet would leave Old Carthan in hopes they could expand their horizons. But then a sudden loom hanged above the Bay of Old Carthan as the Grand Fleet sails for the islands...Thrown into the affairs that will change his life, how could a Doctor keep himself out of the destinies of those who would save the world?

Why read it?
The Milostiv is about a grand journey to the fabled thousand islands. It's also about the people living in the fleet and the problems that they face in oceans made of different biomes in hopes they could somewhat save the world. Yes. There is a chosen one, but the main character is mostly a Doctor who focuses on the well-being of the Grand Galleon. Most of the problems are about the state of the fleet and how they cope on their duties and roles while facing dangerous monsters that are on their way
