Hey, would love to talk DnD sometime, if I like your story I might point out something in the comments.

Curious to see your take on kobolds, though I assume its someone becoming a kobold a youtuber I'm in a discord with Pack Tactics made a inspirational kobold video where he points out how kobolds are full of roleplay opportunities from loving gloomy rain days to being a thieving underdog caveman lizard!

Brian Wrote: Well, the basic 'how' is covered in chapter 2, I don't like leaving character development a mystery.

Although I am trying something very, very weird, in that the 'interface' is getting developed by the character himself, with the help of his own subconscious, rather than being intrinsic to the world. That comes into major play, but not until book 2. I am hoping readers like that, but it's an experiment.

If you want to know what my take is on Kobolds, you should probably read about 'Tucker's kobolds' back in dragon magazine. 127, I think. It doesn't matter much to the MC until much, much later.
Havent read it, but I believe the reputation of them is devious trap makers that sprinkle pain, pitfalls, arrow slits, and other forms of hidden death sprinkled like grains inside their domains. Traps so vast that even a party with fireballs will be in trouble once the magic is all spent.

Brian Wrote: Hi Folks.

My lovely wife of 25 years decided that, for my 50th, I should have a KU subscription. I was messing around, checking out some authors I grew up with, when I stumbled across Dakota Krout.

I was hooked. I have spent the last four decades Running RPG's, playing RPG's and MMO's when not deployed, messing around on Muds, Mucks, and Mushes, writing dungeon descriptions, writing cruddy text-based adventures, writing FOUR RPG's, over a dozen modules, thousands of characters and NPC's, and way, way too much technical documentation.

I love writing, but until I found KU I assumed a second (third?) career as a writer was out of the question. All the good publishing houses died or were absorbed by Nightmarish conglomerations like TOR, and I just don't have the time or energy to try and wangle with some crappy publisher over whether or not the word 'sloppy' is politically correct.

But now? Royal road is calling. I have the time. I have the energy, and I have thousands of told and untold stories, mysteries, and plot elements both fleshed out and crawling around in the back of my brain.

My first book is called "I, Kobold" and I am going to start publishing chapters here when It's approved, two per week. It's sorta traditional fantasy Isekai, and I would really really love people to call attention to any grammatical or spelling errors I might make, places where the dialogue gets repepepepetetive or simply doesn't flow, or massive plot holes or inconsistencies I miss.

I also hope you will enjoy reading what I have to write... I know I have enjoyed reading here :)

Heh, that's actually my star wars force druid for a 'furry star wars' (Not ask, too many arguments with expanded universe players)

I went in in 90, was out way before you.

And yeah, military disability. "You can still walk, lift weights, ride a bike, and answer phones, but you are unemployable."

I try to play my litrpg sort of differently, more like a non-wuxia cultivation with a thin veneer of interface over it instead of "where the hell did the game system come from?" and I am hoping that it resonates with people that usually do not care much for the unreality of most litrpg books.

But hey, if it's not your thing it's cool. I don't much care for wine, myself, even the kind my friends shove at me and insist 'tastes different'. Give me a beer or a screwdriver and I'm good.

90? so were you desert storm? When i deployed to iraq, I had to stay a week in kuwait...was freaking incredible to see a desert, pretty cool for a kid from new england!
Ya i dont like litrpg, im more of a traditional fantasy author/ fan myself, but i read some of your first chapter to get a handle on your writing, and ive got to say its very good, dude!

furry star wars?! XD
its all good, im fur-curious x3

Hey! Welcome! I am also new here. So excited to see others excited about writing. I've been interested in reading a litRPG for the first time so I'm going to have to check out your writing, especially since kobolds are GREAT (and I am a D&D nerd among other things haha).
