author pen names

Why do authors often use a different pen name on kindle than on royal road? I've seen this happen very often when a webnovel is moved there.
Re: author pen names
#2i'd assume that often it's a branding decision
though it does certainly lead to frequent confusion

Some names simply aren't as fitting for brand there, I suppose.
Having a more internet handle-y name here makes sense for example, and people won't bat an eye.
But on Kindle, a more realistic name is probably more marketable since that's what the market is more used to, if I had to guess.
Personally, I just picked a pen name and intend to stick with it anywhere I go.

Amazons terms. Ugh. I WISH I could use my name here.
But it is best to not even play around the edges of angering our corporate over-gods.
