That Tagging Feeling

#1
I'm getting the feeling I put the wrong tags on Cloudlark. I mean, I'm happy with where the story is going, I like the premise, the characters, and I'm super excited for future events, like the massive sky battle I have planned. I've attracted enough .5 stars to feel I'm doing a good job  DrakanLaugh

However... I tagged this as GameLit, yet I still haven't introduced the system by chapter 24... Doesn't that mean it's not GameLit, since the story has gone so far already?

First thing to understand, is the division between genres. This is a common problem amongst both readers are writers I have come to notice.

GameLit, all it really requires is game-like elements. Whether it is in a game world, or incorporating elements that are of a game. To cut things short, it does not require having stats and whatnot, it can just exist in a game world and that is enough to classify it as GameLit. This one here is much more focused on a story.

LitRPG now, it contains game elements, but more so dictated by some game world to say. It has stats, builds, etc, and tends not to focus on a story. It is much more in line with systems and whatnot.

Good point, because yes, the GameLit parts are going to show up soonish. My partner made a remark that if the GameLit parts hadn't been talked about/introduced in the first few chapters, then the book doesn't need to be GameLit (same with any other genre.

And yeah, I need to eventually change that cover to read "a Lucky GameLit" instead of LitRPG.

I'll just keep on keeping on - this is still a first draft and I can think about editing structure when the first book is done.
