Re: How do You Get Yourself into the Mood for Writing?

Ambience, classical/traditional/cultural instruments, genre inspired music etc.We are almost exactly the same in our approaches!! The only that I do differently is play some visual novels and also listen to music with lyrics. I usually find that the lyrics don't strongly pull me away, but that's different for everyone.
I also read about books (webnovels, manga, light novels and trad) that fit my genres, or watch shows/anime that fit my project to get more of the creative juices flowing.
As a discovery writer with some planning, my output depends on my mood, concentration and being able to get into the moment.

I used to get stone-drunk on lager before I started writing. But that was a long time ago, and I like to think I've refined myself somewhat since those days.
So I've moved on to bourbon.

Watching videos with writers discussing the craft is the most consistent way I've found so far. I just came across a great one, too. It's about screenwriting but it works just as well as advice for novel/novella writing:
Don't Get it Right, Get it Written
