Does anyone else get impatient when scheduling chapters for release?
#1
I've taken to scheduling chapters in advance just so that I can pick a good time that I'll probably forget to do it at and publish it then instead of trying to remember when I want to (that sentence was a mouthful...). That's all fine and dandy, but it's a 50-50 chance of me just going in and manually publishing it early anyway because I just want that satisfaction of posting the chapter. Does anyone else get that itch to post and just end up making the scheduling a waste of time?

The temptation to burn through the backlog to get more viewers is strong. But I can't possibly maintain a daily schedule so I have to resist the siren lure of the 'Publish Now' button.

Hahaha! Yes, I do- especially when one week ends on a cliff hanger and you want to get the next one out sooner. But I do find having them all scheduled helps a lot. If I didn't have that routine, then yes I think I'd be putting them out more frequently. But my schedule takes me to May next year so it's a weight off.

I stopped scheduling because I have a poor work ethic and write very slow and can't bring myself to write every day. So it's the impulsive chap release the moment its done for me.

I'm happy for some poor robot publishing my chapters. I'm always busy and would just forget to do it myself. 😄

I currently have 30 chapters queued and ready. Part of me is frustrated at the lack of feedback, despite hundreds of hits a day, and really wants to just dump the lot, but releasing 1 a day worked out well last time so I'll stick with. Try and build up some readers over a month, hopefully get more responses as it goes on

Yes, without a doubt! I’ll crank out a chapter for backlog and then instantly want to post the previous one, but I know that’s silly. The temptation is always there, though…

Come to the dark side, we have cookies (: .)
100% an issue I face.
I know I can only really maintain a 2 chapters per week but I can't stop myself from wanting to release early.
Serotonin is one hell of a drug

I just started writing and I have this feeling. I've written quite a bit ahead of schedule, but I've only committed myself to publishing 1 chapter per week. Now that I'm so far ahead, I'm excited and I want people to binge the series and find out what happens next!
But I guess it's all just willpower and staying dedicated to a consistent schedule.

#11i'm still trying to find a time when i should publish
getting more then 10 views a new chapter is my wish
if i had a backlog of a hundred chaps or more
maybe i'd use the schedule option for what it's for

The 'publish now' button almost always wins.

I had this temptation too early on, but lost it when my backlog grew.
Fwiw I'm backlogged to late *november* atm. XD

Nah, if I didn't have the schedule option I'd release four chapters in the space of an hour, then nothing for like two weeks. For me the scheduler is what makes Royal Road like 90% better than any other webnovel site. For authors, at least.

I post faster here because I'm playing catch-up, but on my website I post on a strict 1 chapter/week schedule. (I started crossposting to RR well afterwards, so on RR I'm like 2 books behind where I am on my website). I find that the biggest problem is keeping track of where the audience is up to -- I have a backlog of about 1 year, so I'm about 4 or 5 major plot twists ahead of the audience at any given time. Sometimes I wish I could just mass post so we could all be on the same page already.
