It was great.

The MC had their memory the whole time, and maaaaybe some of them looked like people from his past life too? But there were all sorts of neat conflicts between past and present lives, like two people who were married before were now dating other people, or someone who used to be a big deal was now looked down on, stuff like that. I don't remember the specifics, but I loved the idea.

And there was a plot unfolding in the past, too, about what had actually happened before the volcano exploded; I don't remember what the central conflict was, but there was this whole 'each person who remembers brings another piece of the puzzle' kinda thing going on.

I'd like to see that sort of thing, but with more fantasy elements. Either a group of highschoolers start recovering memories of lives in a magic academy, or students in a magic academy start recovering memories of a class on earth.

I'd write it myself (and it is in my ideas folder) but I've kinda picked a project for now. It'll have to wait. If anyone else writes something similar, I'd love to read it.
That sounds like a nice read, I would definitely give it a go!

Most stories make the MC look at his new environment through the cultural lens of their previous life. Instead, have his new self try to make sense of those memories through the perspective of his current environment. Though if it's another 'omg we are so awesome' story about our food, technology and culture, I'm gonna skip on it anyway

You know what's funny? When I do this in my story I get readers complaining "why won't the protagonist teach these primitive people some real knowledge!"

Me: "uhhh, because they're not primitive? They've achieved their own sociotechnological balance? And the protagonist should at least understand it first before messing with things?"

Well, I don't understand the readers who think that bringing progress to the other world is easy. If you'll take your average Joe, I'm sure that he'll not know how most of the things work, and in another world, there can be additional factors that hypothetically could influence let's say the chemical reactions, so I agree with you, Aorii, the other world would have its own technological path, of course, it's a different thing if the MC tries to imitate some of the products while using local tech.

I am writing a reincarnation story of a species that doesn't know who it was as the original one.
Every arc will explore a different species and its progress being a reincarnation.
The species is reincarnated into different species but in the same world. The species remembers only two lives as its level has limitations. But it will remember all the previous lives as it progress towards the quest to find the reason for the reincarnations and its origin.

I am on the mid of first arc (7 chapters) and hopefully will go online in two weeks.

Title is REINCARNATION GAMES.
Its my first story on rr so
wish me luck.

Basically I'm a total sucker for the philosophical and psychological aspects of reincarnation stories.

I really like the idea of someone who reincarnated constantly. Like, just over and over again. And exploring how that effects their mentality and stuff. Like, do they form relationships still, or connect with others, or try and improve the lives of those around them when they know that they will outlive them all.

I guess it's just the old immortal tropes, but with a few add-ons due to the inconsistent bodies and surroundings. How do you perceive your gender when you have lived in a few hundred cultures with wildly varying understandings of it and you've also lived in any and every sexed body possible? How do you understand morality or religion?

Gosh, I really need to read more immortal mc stories...
