As for the no empty star idea - how do you suggest positioning the even-numbered stars?
Just center them.

I don't particularly like it.
Is is possible to have them in a straight line below the emblem? I do prefer without empty stars, because on mobile at least, it's difficult to count the filled ones at a glance

Straight-line?

OCD is a good thing for the authors. It motivates them to push harder. If anything, I would intentionally sabotage the system to screw with the various authors OCDs. If the author doesn't keep writing every week, the stars become slightly more and more crooked the longer they take.

Hi, Satan. It's been a while since I last saw you, how are you these days?

For me it's symmetry. Half of a star on each side is symmetrical. So personally, I do like the idea of half a star as well.
It's hard to explain, but it's also just pleasing.
Incomplete isn't really the problem, uneven is.
If we were to balance it on something directly in the middle, one side would fall over due to the weight normally.
If it's even, then that doesn't happen.
It's in balance.
Though I never really expected this to actually bother anyone other than me....
Sorry.

Oh, and the redesigns also looked awesome IMO.
I guess the growing stars was my favorite.
I'm not sure how many people agree with that one, though.
Re: Uneven Achievements And Annoying OCD
#27I like the idea of the stars filling in entirely from left to right. I don't think it's be as much of an issue with trying to make the achievements symmetrical if the stars aren't trying to be symmetrical. The current way the stars progress can be uneven and I think that's one of the roadblocks. An aspect of the current problem might be that we are capable of trying to even out the stars, but if there was nothing to even out, just straightforward progression, could that be a solution?
That sounds a little odd... If the stars progress in a linear pattern from left to right across the existing star format, then the final star would be on the far right before starting over again. Similar to what JackOfHeart said with:

Just instead using the format the stars are already in, like so:

You guys ever have this kind of problem, or do you actually like it?
I'm in pain just thinking about it.![]()
What annoys your ocd, or do you not think ocd matters?
I've heard a lot of people generally don't really believe or respect a person's ocd.
Mostly people who don't have it.
Mine is typically an extreme urge to do any particular thing my brain gets obsessed with.
Unfortunately, it gave me an insatiable urge to write.
Does it make you correct the tiniest tidbits of something or just not stop doing something until you feel satisfied?
Even breathing. If I breathe wrong I have to breathe a certain way to offset the weirdness. If I spin a certain direction I have to spin back.
The hyperventilation and dizziness suck.
That kinda thing.
As someone who washes her hands 10 times a day, at least, now for at least 20 sec each time thanks to COVID, let me tell you about my OCD. I love. I have learned to live with it. I don't know what I would be now, if somehow it gets corrected. Sometimes, I wash my hands just to remind myself I still have OCD. But, yes, life is hard. It doesn't bother me when I am by myself. But, when I am in the presence of others, I have to hide it from them, constantly, which bothers me a lot.
I don't have many writing related OCD, other than the fact that I have to find the right word to describe what I mean to write. Sometimes, it takes almost an hour to come up with the right phrase or word or expression. But, I would rather write slow than write bad. I had struggled with multiple revision when I had just started writing to post on this site recently, but I have set goals now.
I think setting goals is key, but if you are okay with your OCD, then let it be. It is only an expression of your internal conflicts and thoughts. I have found that carrying out the ritual is cathartic and helps me calm down, specially if I am under immense stress.
Hope my ranting here is helpful.

Is continuously checking if I got rep ocd? I think so, and I genuinely feel dishearted when there's no change in my RR stats. Who knew a story writing platform's U.I. was more addicting for me than any game I have ever played... I think it's because of the positive "real" feedback to my comments, and being able to view an active feed of who's giving rep and for what.

As someone with OCD, Growing Stars definitely feels the best on a symmetrical basis.
While it was something I noted when I joined RR. I didn't care much but I do get Lime_Lover's thoughts on the matter.
This just looks weird, and I'd prefer to have it two stars on each side. Will it hurt my life in any way? No. It would just look better.
Depends, if the "ocd" detracts you from doing work and other necessary activities, then perhaps. Otherwise, it might be a poor habit.

Or hyperfixation or addiction something else. I've got hyperfixation on this stuff and it's pretty bad too, but at the end of the day this social media reward stuff is still built to be addictive and even if it's disruptive to life it doesn't mean it's a diagnosable thing. Addiction is common and it's strong stuff.

I've thrown together a couple alternative layouts; do either of these work better for anyone?
