Well... Hello, I'm Sara! I started writing young with the cheesiest and fluffiest anime fanfictions possible, but in the past few years I've been trying to hone my writing skills and write original stories. A friend with similar goals (Ben Arrison, writer of The Epic of the Atlas Dawn on this site *cough hint* love him check out his work if you like) recommended the Royal Road community, so here I am! Really liking the community aspect here, so I figured I'd post.

I started with MLP fanfictions (the clean kind where they would go adventuring and fight magical creatures, and my young teen girl self was obsessed with the show) and now have transitioned to my own stories as well. I'm also new here, and so far I like the community. I wish you all the luck!

I too started young with fanfiction, but mine was utterly crap and manic. 🤣 It's all a learning experience though.

Is fanfiction some kind of gateway drug to the hard original fiction stuff? There does seem to be a bit of a pattern like that lately...

Welcome to Royal Road. I've never understood why fan fiction gets such a bad rap. Writing is writing and as Cinn noted many people who start out in fan fiction migrate to original works as well. Plus I'd think coming up with an original story within the confines of an already established world is more difficult that most people think.
