I'm an honest believer in thinking that answers to a poll will mostly match a novel's tone. I think you are more likely to see troll answers in troll novels or novels who are either not serious or just full of cliches. If your novel does not fall into that category, than you are most likely fine. I doubt u'll get weird answers. Whenever I encounter a poll, I usually just answer truthfully or don't answer at all.
Whatever you do, just don't include troll answers in your poll and you'll generally get normal results based on what people actually want. If you make a poll about what type of mount your knight in shiny armor character should get and you include "unicorn", "Pegasus", "Celestial Lion" and "A Shark! With Lasers! That can Fly!", my bet would be the shark winning.
Someone should draw a flying shark with lasers, I bet it would be awesome.
