I use Google Docs as my main writing program. I was wondering if there's someway to copy and paste my text and keep the formatting? Or do I have to do it all manually? Right now it double spaces between paragraphs and I lose my formatting (italics, lines, etc), so I end up having to paste as plain text. :/
I have no solution for italics and such, but RR automatically adds spaces between paragraphs as part of it’s formatting so you should add a space between paragraphs in your drafts if you’re copy-pasting.
Do you have any other app you can paste into as a temporary measure, then copy back out again before pasting into Royal Road? Word, Pages, Scrivener? I don't know how Word and Pages work with Royal Road, but Scrivener retains italics when I paste a chapter here. And if you don't include a blank line between paragraphs, then Royal Road shouldn't double-space them.
Copying from Word works nearly perfectly. The only thing I lose is fonts, justification and table formatting. The only trick is that you need to save once, then preview, then add a space anywhere and save again (either with a draft or you can publish and immediately edit and save). If you don't, the paragraph spacing doesn't appear.
It's probably an artifact from the fact that the text and the HTML rendering can be edited separately, so it doesn't always translate directly your edited text into what will appear on the page.
