Looking for something without game elements like Skills, Status screens or level ups. A more realistic depiction of them like in 'The Scourged Earth' is welcome though. I just dont want invisible computer screens in front of faces or at the corner of their vision that only characters can see. Really kills my immersion.

As for recommendations, Anything from earth being invaded by foreign creatures to being transported to another world. Preferably Male MCs but Fem also welcome. Magic is a must. Would prefer something with a lot of conflicts and action

Mine's got some "behind the scenes" game elements, but nothing you'd notice if all you did was read the story text.

Mostly it's an epic high fantasy story that just finished up a civil war arc, and will soon be moving on to the next big adventure after a bit of a time skip so the MC can grow up a little.

The main character's a little girl. Because a twelve year old necromancer playing with "dollies" is fun to me.

I recently reviewed

https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/3307/the-selection Should be a good match. A bit dark. Magical school going horribly wrong.

https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/21095/aint-a-hero if you're into hysterical insanities. Slapstick comedy slice of life with lots of explosions.

https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/22548/song-of-helheim-reparations Straight military fantasy. Slower build-up until the action.

Taleweaver in sig is even slower than anything above until the action gets going. Science fantasy / isekai:ish.

My story is just a regular fantasy novel, no gaming references. Multiple POV, 3 main males, 1 main female. Completed, if it makes any difference. Link in sig.

I don't write LitRPG so if you're looking to avoid computer screens and all that-- well, my series is more along the "traditional" literary angle. Not game based, original world/characters/etc.  Grimdark sci-fantasy-- there is -subtle- magic, but it's not high fantasy. Not sure if it's what you're looking for but hey, it's under my profile if you're interested.

The Wandering Inn. It is probably the greatest piece of fiction I have ever read and has brought me to the edge of tears. This is pure fantasy. I don't think it gets much better than this. This novel will draw you into its world and you will get invested in the characters.

RoyalRoad: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/10073/the-wandering-inn or for PirateAba's website: https://wanderinginn.com/

There is a minimal level system but its literally one line every couple thousand. The first review by LOGICALSYSTEMS puts it nicely:
Quote:I like levels but thats it. I don't like when a popup with level details come to life in front of character's screen. This doesn't allow the charater to grow on you emotionally, it just doesn't come to life because you can't really relate to the character this way. I really love how author have used the good and avoided the bad completely.

All three of my fictions are fantasies to varying degrees with no game elements.

The Charm Fable: Mousey and the Golden Book is a high fantasy children's novel with animal main characters.

The Whispered War is a low fantasy, political intrigue story taking place in a setting similar to Renaissance Era France.

The Crows and the Plague is a dark, low fantasy about plague doctors in an alternate history version of medieval Europe.
