This story uses multiple POV (Young Adult Human, Alien War Veteran). It is a 50/50 Mix of YA Drama and Space Opera Sci-fi. The science fiction in the popular TV / Movie variety: not hard sci-fi per se, but with a balance of realism and fantastic elements.
Being a vanilla human in the twenty-third century is a drag. With no embedded biotech thanks to a rare allergic condition, Morgan Greenfield is somewhat of a social pariah. He's also just plain weird. Who drives a car with wheels, anyway?
All that becomes meaningless when a secret starship propulsion program goes wrong, and sends Morgan and a bunch of space tourists on an intergalactic adventure. What would you do if you found yourself stranded halfway across the galaxy, in the middle of an alien war? When the commander of the Maurian Empire hands you the keys to the most powerful StarFighter ever assembled, would you risk it all all to defend a planet you’ve never even set foot on?
The StarFighter Chronicles is an action-adventure sci-fi journey. It's written partially from a young human's perspective, and partially from the perspective of an alien warship commander. Awkward, angsty teen drama segues into the cold, harsh reality of life-or-death in deep space. There are also ship fights...lots and lots of ship fights.
Hrain is a fantasy / sci-fi mashup adventure story with an alien main character. This is a stand-alone story that is a tie in to my main story Chronicles of the StarFighters (also on Royal Road).

Before first contact with humanity, Sledgim was a forgotten world: a secret planet not on any star chart of the Maurian Empire, hidden in a wrinkle of spacetime. To an unfortunate few, this frozen rock is home.
Those born on the ice in the shadow of the split mountain know nothing of the stars, of spacecraft, or of the wars that had ravaged the Empire over the last thousand years. As the son of poor anitheum miners, all Hrain had to look forward to was a life of labor and an early death.
Then, the voices came.
When Leader Paryah learns that a young boy from Adula can read minds, Hrain finds himself on the run and fighting for his life. In this stand-alone novel set in the StarFighter Universe, follow young Hrain as he discovers the awesome power of the Gift of Ramas and leaves a mark on the Empire that will not soon be forgotten.
