Nine-to-five. The daily grind. Life. Painful years of school. Working as a slave for some undeserving corporate big-wig. The monotonous life of unemployment. We all experience this in one way or another, and we can all conclude one thing: it's dull.
Such a fact rings true even for the fabled Lone Immortus, a powerful nine-tailed Golden Foxkin. However, what would you do if your monotony was suddenly ground to a halt and you were thrown out of your comfort zone along with a young girl forgotten by time?
Perhaps you might have done things differently, been more organised, immediately died, gained control of the world in a matter of days, but this is Lone's tale, not yours.
Watching two insecure people struggle to survive and find their place in an unfamiliar land just might be enjoyable to witness. Who knows? One thing's for certain: it won't be an easy path for them to tread, and what could possibly be more entertaining than watching people endure hardships and grow?
I know of at least eight gods that would answer with, 'Absolutely nothing.'
I wonder, after seeing this journey from start to finish, how would you answer?

Monsters plagued the lands for too long. No matter if one had fangs, beak, teeth, skin, fur, or feather, or was tall, stout, or diminutive, the people suffered. Until the Gadgeteers came with a device that could allow people to fight back. Powered by one's own magical power, feeding off of monster Essence, the Arbitrium bracer turned the tables.
It also changed society. Strength of one's level cap was all that mattered. The strongest were Kings and Emperors. The weak or those too poor to afford the marvelous device, destitute. And so it has been for millennia.
All that mattered was one's level cap. High, low, a fate decided the moment the strange contraption came alive. Too high and you were a threat to those interested in keeping the status quo, a weed to be nipped before it could grow and take root. Too low and you were nobody, fated to be a bit more than a simple farmer.
What if someone, somewhere, came up with a zero for their level cap? Unable to use Essence, unable to level up. On all of recorded history, it never happened.
Until it did.
In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped.
Nero's level cap was Zero.
But he'd never let that stop him from reaching his goals.
All stories have already been told. We merely reuse elements from them. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter.
This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead. Lightweight where it can be, heavy where it must.
Thanks for reading.

Kingdom Come is the third book in the Archemi Online Chronicles, a LitRPG Epic Fantasy series starring a dragon and her pet rider.
Kingdom Come (Archemi Online #3)
As reward for stopping a serial killer and restoring the Kingdom of Vlachia to its rightful ruler, Dragozin Hector and his queen dragon, Karalti, have earned a noble title, a castle, and land of their own.
There’s only one problem – it’s occupied. By a freaking elder vampire.
Not only has the vampire unleashed the blight of undeath across the land, but a crazed ex-developer is on the warpath. His mission? To take Hector’s dragon, free the Void Dragons, and use their combined power to become the Dragon-God Emperor of Archemi.
Hector never wanted to go back to war, not even in a video game. But now, he must fight to claim his territory from Ol’ Fangface before everything is taken from him - including his beloved dragon.
Previous Installments in the Series:
Dragon Seed (Archemi Online #1)
What would you give to be a dragon rider?
Before being conscripted to fight in the Total War, Private Hector Park had a shattered family, a collection of old videogames, and a promising career as a motorcycle stuntman. Now, he is dying from a virus threatening humankind with extinction. He has three days to live.
When Hector’s brother contacts him after years of hostile silence, Hector goes to try and make peace. But his brother has an offer even more unbelievable than reconciliation: the chance to cheat death by joining him in Archemi, a full-immersion fantasy VR-RPG videogame.
Determined to forge a life worth living, Hector undergoes the experimental upload process and chooses the difficult path of the Dragon Knight. To achieve his dream, he must prove himself worthy of imprinting a dragon, a being with whom he will share a telepathic bond more intimate than any human relationship.
But at what cost?
Trial by Fire (Archemi Online Book #2) is the sequel to Dragon Seed, the first book in the Archemi Online LitRPG/Gamelit series. It is largely standalone, but I highly recommend reading Dragon Seed first!
One man. One game. One adorable baby dragon.
Two weeks ago, Hector Park cheated death by uploading his mind to the ultra-immersive fantasy RPG game, Archemi. After exposing the rotten heart of an order of dragon knights, he’s now on the run with a young queen dragon who could one day become the most powerful mount in the game.
To get strong enough to face their enemies, they need a quest – a big one. Fortunately, trouble has a way of finding Hector, and it does – in the form of a series of brutally murdered priests, a king in desperate need of a hero, and a beautiful, fiery berserker. The risk? Huge. The payoff? More gold than a dragon’s hoard.
There's only one problem - Archemi is haunted by the ghost of a mad developer bent on making the game his personal playground. And now that the world outside has vanished in a storm of nuclear fire, there's no one left to stop him. Or at least, that’s what he thinks. Because Hector isn't the kind of man to take this shit lying down, and neither is his dragon.
You can find Trial by Fire here: Trial by Fire on Amazon
The first time Allen died, he was forced back into a living hell where death is temporary, and power is all that matters. With evil and depravity as the rule, tragedy becomes comedy and life becomes an act. Only a deal with a shady god can get him back to his old life, but what happens if there’s nothing left to save? Maybe hell isn’t so bad if you have infinite lives… until you don’t. Needless to say, it’s all fun and games until there’s no more respawns.
This story is meant primarily as an action adventure and secondarily as a dark and nihilistic comedy. It may not be readily apparent in the beginning, but that's what I have planned (I feel the need to emphasize the dark; don’t rage at me if it gets too ‘traumatizing’ or something). I’m going to take my time with this, so it won’t immediately inundate you with doom and gloom. This is also a comedy, remember? On that note, if for some cursed reason you just can't handle either the references or the jokes, I am willing to battle in the comments.
Anyway, I still put a significant amount of effort into the system, so I hope you enjoy that part. It is a little bulky, I'll admit to that, but I wanted to try something new and its more fun when there's more depth to it. Regardless, I still have a lot of fun doing math in the middle of writing a fictional story (/s).
I also want to see if I can keep from messing up the pacing. Many times, I end up going too fast because I'm afraid of the story getting boring, which tends to ironically have the opposite effect. I'm still learning I suppose; we'll see how things go. Lastly, please leave reviews and comments, they really mean a lot to me and (usually) help me improve considerably. I'll be asking for feedback in the polls and I do still check the old ones from time to time.
The story takes a bit of time to develop; give it time if you're here for drama, grimdark, or antihero.
The system is all blue boxes and I'm not half-assing the numbers.
Chapters will be between 1k and 2k words usually.
I always use the oxford coma, fight me.
Might drop if rating falls below 4 stars, idk. It depends on how my life is going.

A weary mind awakens in an unfamiliar body, lost, confused, scared, and very far from home.
He doesn't know where he is, he isn't sure what he may become, and his stomach growls hungrily.
But he knows one thing.
He must feed and he isn't too bothered on how, only when.
Through his struggles to survive trying to take his place in this world. It, the world will be forever changed.
My first story here so let's do it! hopefully with flying colors. (This story is not about an insect that goes on an edgelord, death rampage, so those who came for that, know now what you are reading and stop rating down thx, still, some murder and mayhem is involved)
Feel free to critique, I will be checking on reviews and comments every now and then to see what others think of my writing and how I might adjust it in the future. (although I'm also doing this for fun so don't get your knickers in a twist if things don't change to your liking).
(Know that even if you comment/review that doesn't mean I will respond or that I will take your advice, after all, I too have my own preferences).
A chapter tends to come out every fortnight, however sometimes it may be sooner or later, It depends on how lazy I'm feeling or how busy I am.
Ps. A friend of mine drew the cover art, appreciate its homebrew goodness.
PPs. serious readers may want to read the author's notes as well.
PPPs. If you rate down please say why, I want info, not merely ratings that don't tell me anything, preferably in comments, so I can try to best satisfy my audience, or at the very least understand their reasons.
For Alys Kinnear, becoming a wizard was her life's ambition, but it's an ambition that might just cost her her life. Does a country girl from Éire have what it takes to handle the dangerous and inglorious realities that come with being a practitioner in the magic-infused modern day city of London?
She quickly finds herself confronted by street thugs trying to steal her new employer's property and a client whose home turns out to be a former asylum filled with the angry ghosts of former patients. With her new Familiars, a pair of snow leopards she rescued from an unscrupulous shop owner, Alys must overcome these and the more mundane day-to-day difficulties of studying to become a full-fledged Wizard.
Because before she expects it, she'll find herself tested in ways she never imagined.
School's out for summer! And for Michael, it couldn't have come at a better time. Suffering from the heartache of a bad break up, Michael sought a place to escape into. In steps his Big Sister Cara to save the day with a suite of Golden Tickets; she just so happens to be one of the big winners of a very special lottery. Yup, and now they're off into the magical virtual world of Abrynth with the promise of "A new world, A new life." But little does Michael know just how true those words will hold... and the big loss in store for him.
Warning: The following story is inspired by light novels, anime, and mangas. (Nope, nothing new here, at least I don't think there is, other than the author (yours truly)) It is meant to be a simple, easy to read, fun, light-hearted adventure through a virtual fantasy world. Plus, it's my first time writing like this... so please be aware that there will be mistakes made along the way... so I invite you to enter the dragon and enjoy your time in Abrynth.
Join the Species Tournament! You might lose your sanity, and quite possibly, your life. But hey, great adventure awaits.
Who would accept such a deal and risk it all for glory and the unknown? Well, apparently quite a few. In fact, 1.000.000 life forms will face each other in this century’s tournament.
Who will win and who’ll be sent packing? Who will gain strength and who’ll leave with trauma?
Find out on this week’s episode of the Species Tournament!
Additional notes (for those who want more details before giving the novel a try):
- It’s a battle royale type of setting between humans, pixies, elves, and dwarves organized by a Television Channel from the Demon World.
- The MC foolishly decides to join the competition and will struggle to redeem himself throughout the story. The unfolding events will force him and his friends to mature in different ways.
- Each round will be held in a different location/planet. The rounds and the locations will become crazier as the plot progresses.
- There will be a mystery aspect to the story, since the demons don’t really like spoon feeding contestants on what is going on.
- You can expect some magic elements, though contestants won't have much access to them.
- The members of each species will have their own unique worlds, back-stories, motivations, and traits. Some will fight for personal reasons while others for the sake of their people. The needs of many vs. the needs of the individual will clash on several occasions.
- Finally, there will be twists and turns at every corner, so one should never get too comfortable.
Thanks in advance to all who read my story, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!
An abandoned steampunk arms factory, in the middle of a conflict torn former state of the Empire it served, gains a soul. This transforms it into a Lord, capable of turning land into power. Beset by enemies on all sides it must figure out how to win the war its creators lost a century ago.
This is a progressive Dungeon Core novel (which is to say the core will progress and expand in scale, eventually) across multiple dimensions with different characteristics (e.g. steampunk, magic, mythological). It has rationalist leanings (paragraphs of reasoning) and litrpg leanings (there are stat blocks). The core game mechanical idea is something like "what if different flavors of magic power actually did come from controlling land" and then the story is: "what if there was a flavorless (artifact deck) dungeon core".
Chapters will be relatively short (my aim is that in three column format each would fit on a wide screen monitor), the first few chapters - setting up the main character and mechanics - are currently the longest in the entire series. I write chapters in blocks, and then release them one a weekday (M-F; 6 PM GMT, unless RoyalRoad's publish thing screws up) until I run out. There may be a few days of gaps here and there if someone finds an egregious error I have to re-write around or if I am behind. In general though one can read this once a weekend. I may do slight retconns and edits, I'll make sure to put it in an authors note if I do.
Read on the main site for a better reading experience.

Praestes de Arcanum - Keeper of Secrets, a clandestine organization with one mission only: to preserve and protect the arcane knowledge of the old world. For centuries they've paved the future of the civilization of Arallax, be it through industrial and technological advancement, or methods of more surreptious nature.
Five hundred years after the birth of the Empire, a new candidate with a shrouded past was chosen. Little did they know, she held more secrets than all of them combined - secrets that would once again set in motion the cogs that had long ceased to move.
After a lifetime of misery, his life came to an end and the boy was reborn as a genderless slime in a magical steampunk fantasy world called Theia. On Earth, he was called a psychopath and a freak. And now, he was a true monster and was hunted by humans. Even the so-called ‘god’ of this world wanted him dead. It was a good thing he was already a bit psychotic or else this situation would’ve driven him mad.

Disclaimer: If you're looking for a typical isekai and or gender bender story, you've come to the wrong place! This story is a slow-paced character-driven fantasy isekai story with some very light RPG elements and heavy emphasis on psychological elements.
A crew of steampunk bounty hunters decide to make the immortal and tyrannical Queen of Queens their next mark after discovering the sacred power of the Witch Tier.
This is a shounen style story written by a screenwriter. It's inspired by a lot of anime such as Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, DBZ, and many others.
Samuel Welbourne was never meant to live a long and happy life. Since the age of four, Sam has been in and out of the hospital, but now his body is on the brink of giving up. With nothing left to lose, Sam accepts experimental surgery to modify his genes, hoping for one last miracle.
However, when he wakes up, Sam is no longer on Earth, no longer in his own body, and no longer in the right state of mind. As his sense of self is slowly twisted and changed by his new body, he must fight to survive in a new world where he is considered nothing but an instrument to powerful magi.
[Part 1 has been fully revised as of the 26th of May 2020]
Dying is supposed to be the last thing you do. For Raymond Baines, it was only the begining. Barely escaping the afterlife with his soul mostly intact and now reincarnated as a very unimpressive monster, he'll have to work hard to survive the nightmarish underground labyrinth he now finds himself in. Along the way he'll have to grow and evolve himself while avoiding the true terrors that lurk in the deep darkness of the world, and eventually figure out the reason his soul is such a threat that gods from another dimension would try to have him killed...
The city of Omen is on the cutting-edge of learning and science, and the things going on behind the backs of the Institute and the government, and sometimes with their approval...well, they don’t really matter. Conspirators operate just below the surface, societies clashing, fighting for their own mysterious ends.
It's here that the individual known as Nemesis Jones, a self-styled private investigator, arrives, stumbling onto the doorstep of a curious bookstore called Beaumort's. He's here in search of answers, but all he seems to find is more questions - like the strange girl who arrived at Beaumort's shortly after him, and the peculiar stranger who just may have the answers he seeks. After he stumbles upon a conspiracy tied far too closely for comfort to his best friend, it's up to him and some other nosy eccentrics to unravel the mysteries of the city one by one, beginning with the murder at the Theatre Obscura.
Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, all of this is explicitly outlined in Nemesis' job description.
