It was a shame, really. Those men were wealthy governors, mayors, and politicians, brought so low down as to binge illicit alcohol every few weeks. I felt as if I was intruding on something my eyes were not meant to see. It wasn’t an unfamiliar sensation, though. My father then was the owner of a large alcohol company. Then the Volstead Acts were imposed. Let’s leave at this: he went out of business quickly.
I, on the other hand, went into business...in the underworld. In my defense, I have to eat. I take liquor from my father’s secret caches and sell it to greedy politicians.
Oh, and I’m one of the straighter sellers.
