A tale of an abandoned boy trying to fix his face.
Lyra fucked up.
Lyra fucked up big time.
How did Lyra fuck up? She got caught doing something illegal, being part of an organ harvesting operation. She wasn’t one of the ‘give me yer fuckin lungs’ people, she was the ‘Don’t think about what’s in this box’ person.
Unfortunatley the authorities got curious when they found Lyra with a cryo-box and decided to crack it open. Lyra got herself 5 years of imprisonment, 4 of which were to be spent on a mining colony.
Now she is sitting in a cell waiting for a miracle to happen....
A mage's quest for vengeance quickly devolves into a fight for survival when he and his lord are dragged into a nightmare realm filled with terrors unlike anything they've seen in the waking world.
Eleanor meant the world to Titus. So when an opportunity to bring her murderer to justice appears, Titus jumps on the chance. His quest, however, would mean traversing the dangerous world of Nivandor, a land infested with monsters, night hunters, and corrupt kings–nothing he and his lord, Lady Priscilla, couldn't handle.
Their plans change, however, when both of them are dragged into a nightmare realm, a dimension filled with strange and powerful terrors unlike any they've ever seen. Titus's skill as a kinetic mage is put to the ultimate test as he must defend his lord from the increasingly dangerous monsters that hunt them as they desperately search for the three keys that would open the Wakening Door, their only means of returning to the real world.
But can they find the keys before the end of the third night, the night when the Night Terror, a nigh-unstoppable monster, appears? For while death can be avoided in the nightmare so long as the Night Terror slumbers, when it awakens, there will be no more places to hide and no more second chances.
The valley of water,
a city of fire,
the graveyard of angels.
Three keys for the Wakening Door,
three nights to pass.
The Night Terror will stretch its wings and soar,
and fill the world with broken glass.
Target Date for Chapter 5: November 2, 2019
Thank you all for your patience! I've realized that trying to release a chapter every 3 weeks is too much of a cram for me right now, so I've gone back to releasing a chapter every month. That gives me enough time to not only release longer chapters but also have time to go back and polish up a chapter as much as I can before posting it. Hopefully, someday I can have shorter turnarounds while maintaining the same quality.
Let me know what you guys think in the comments below.
This is a work in progress that I hope to update every 3-4 weeks. Between graduate school and work, delays may happen, but I will try my best to keep production on schedule. There are bound to be grammatical mistakes/inconsistencies here and there since I won't be able to hire an editor until I have enough content to justify doing so. Until then, I hope the mistakes don't get too much in the way of the story. Enjoy!
Cover art credit goes to Brosedesignz, who has an awesome selection of both premade and custom book covers at great prices on her website. She can also be found at thebookcoverdesigner.com, which is where I found my cover.
This short story details the last 16-hours of Hatchet Sam Packer, a convicted murderer on Death Row, circa 1950's Louisiana. He tells the story in his own words, starting from breakfast and working his way through the meetings of the day, including his lawyer, the Reverence, the warden, his family, and the family of the people he murdered.
Ahh, I sometimes wonder how I got here, then my brain turns back on and I remember wandering off from my camp and murdering the poor couple that lived here, heh, don't feel bad these guys got off easy, last time it was a whole three generation family. But that's not why I'm here, I'm here to ask you to read.
Keep in mind this is a work of fiction and I'm not real, so any events that take place in the aforementioned fiction are just that, fiction. This isn't original however and takes place in the borderlands universe, it was going to be original but putting it in a borderlands setting gives people who are familiar an idea of what this may be like, so warning you now it'll get dark, there will be light moments as well, because I'm not some edgy angst filled teenager but just know that this ain't for the lighthearted or weak stomached. I hope you can enjoy.
I don't own the cover, nor do I own borderlands, both belong to their respective owners.
