And it all starts with a simple test - reach Level 5 in the dungeon called the ‘newbie zone’ and earn the right to become a full-fledged adventurer!

However, such things get hopelessly derailed when his adolescent mind beholds an exposed chest for the first time. A fateful meeting that would inevitably lead his life in a direction he never even dreamed of!

Overall great story, but.

I would like to put this out here. I love this story. But the many erotic scenes drag the story down.

Now, this is a subjective opinion and are thus the primary reason for a 3-star review of the story.

The grammar is perfect, or at least as close to. I haven't seen any glaring grammar mistakes, but I am dyslexic.

I simply love the characters in the story and its the main reason I kept reading on.

The style I have no real comment on but it way above average.

So overall a 4-star review from me.

I read about 115 chapters in the last few days and couldn't get myself to like the novel.

The characters are bland and there is no real story. The author goes too much into explaining the RPG elements and generally explains too much about rather irrelevant stuff. It is also quite slow (story wise).

The comedy isn't my cup of tea and on the adolescent side.

Spoiler: Spoiler

Overall, I just don't care about how the novel will progress and decided to stop reading for now. A bit of comedy and some perverted stuff aren't enough for me to keep reading right now.

Great start, then got old really fast.

Alright, I usually dont read pornographic stories (they get old, and are rarely well written), but this one tricked me, the grammar was impeccable, sentences flowed like water, and that troll at the start got me laughing internally for hours.

One thing I gotta commend it for is how well written the dumb monster MC is, there are no half-measures, and it is truly... well monstrous and cruel as you'd expect, and for the first chapters it was great, it was different, and although kinda depressing, and dark, it was fun to read, specially with the acid sense of humor of the author.

But them came the side characters (demons), at first it was fine, the vore loving succubus was an interesting sidekick to the as-dumb-as-ambient-temperature-MC, and the sex scenes didn't bother me too muhc, we're talking about a story with a monstrous cruel and more importantly DUMB mc afterall, but them the sex scenes didn't stop, at first it was ok (since the sidekick was a succubus), but they came in sequence, and the thing about hightly descriptive sex scenes is you get a boner on the first one, them they get old, specially when the focus of the story suddenly changes to abusing the side characters.

And then the jokes don't crack me up anymore, the MC get's stale, and the overly descriptive BRUTAL sex scenes, and the ever present DUMB cruelty by the MC, all in sequence tire me out and I feel like my sanity is actually dropping, and here I am making a review.

Loved it and then hated it

I really liked it at the beginning. The MC had an awesome personality. His growth was awesome. Then he started summoning the Demons. When I had to vote if I liked sexual content I put yes without reservations. God I was mistaken (not that my vote meant something). I really didn't want to read a pornographic story. It was almost as if the Mimic became a secondary character and the main action was the one between his two demons. Also even though the mimic growth in strenght was smooth, it looked like the humans were just fodder even when they were the same level as him.

Great start (dropped at chaos 6)

Great novel in the beginning and it does some things amazingly well.

1. I haven't seen such an uncaring and callous character done so well.

2. the demons are the most demonic that I have seen also. (most authors simply have the demons as one-sided baby eaters and stop at that)

3. The interesting magic system along with decent world building. (along with half decent descriptions)

4. an amusing sense of humor at the start of the novel. (which vanished once the girls arrived and in its place was sex scenes but whatever)

However I dropped it after the Mc became a puppet, plot armor kicked everything in the face with literal Deus ex machina, and tropes started coming out the ass.

Give it a read and see if it's to your taste, but be warned it may not be to your taste sooner or later.

I went into the prolouge thinking that this would be another throwaway boring fantasy world fiction with some stupid harem that is only there for fanservice, and maybe if I was lucky decent grammar. I came out of the prolouge thinking, huh did he just kill the main character? I want to see where this goes. And 30 minutes later I was on the last chapter that had been released laughing my fucking ass off.

The humor is great, the way the story isn't just there to support the authors jokes is great. And I mean... Just look at the title and read the description once you get past chapter 3 you will not want to stop reading.

Monsters can be named 'Gary Stu', too...

It's well written, technically speaking.

Even so, the MC is a plot armored, dense, quickly OP protag.
Also this is yet another 'This character sheet's development' type story where the (protagonist?) gets magically convenient plot developments, and power-ups like candy from the sky.

The fact that he's not human is 'clever'-ish-- but that only holds you a few chapters.

I don't understand the popularity honestly. Rooting for the MC to prey on humans is probably a draw for many. As you're normally 'wired' for the MC to survive, you are anxious about the prospect of parties of experts gunning for him eventually. Yeah... when they act like fodder for the story you realize that was a wasted concern.

I mean- you would think the MC survivng as a monster would be a point of suspense/challenge- but no- not so much...

  • Some allies appear flaky, but are actually deus ex plot foils with conveniently masterful planning and execution.
  • Some opponents act 'smart', but are actually dumb and die stupidly.

So, those two points make for no 'challenge' or 'suspense' after you realize this is just an oddly 'monster skinned' 'Gary Stu' adventure. I guess goblins weren't 'monster' enough.

Eventually you get to the whole hentai schtick, featuring the ridiculousness of 'erotic' vore and the 'naturally resulting' mindbreak if you're can believe/are into that.

(sigh)

Well, 'whatever'...

Overall, pretty mindless/pointless.

The novelty wears off pretty quick-, but I'm sure some will find this to their liking.

For me, the forced platting and super-thick plot armor is what dragged me out of it. Well, the vore and mindbreak helped. Too many stupid things layered on top of one another and I don't find it palatable anymore. Add to that the overall pointlessness, and the clear intent not to handle any of the implied challenges in a reasonable/logical manner (instead solving with deus ex contrivances and conveniently compliant plotting) and I'm no longer curious... :(

I will say that the concept suggested a challenge in writing (in my mind) where having a mimc survive outside a dungeon (etc.) would be an interesting story. Well, this isn't that story & I suppose that's ok- but to so radically make this... whatever it actually is- to make the writing unchallenging...

Well, I'm sure many like it as-is

I just did the 'Advanced Review' scoring, and now I'm wondering how others can honestly give some of the ratings they do.
'Style' is subjective- so I'll let that go, though I don't see this as being anything beyond normal execution with a different type of character.
'Story' is also debatable- so I'll just say (how I see it) where the story is lacking a plot up to where I stopped reading. To me 'and then another thing happened' repeatedly isn't the same as 'story'. There is absolutely no goal, the plot armor on the MC removes any suspense. The convenient power-ups destroy any 'needs'... On to the next point...
'Grammar' is good. Nothing worth quibbling over there...
'Character'... The MC has none, and everyone else is disposable or a caricature. Anyone 5 stars this- I'd love to hear why.

None of this detracts from it's likability- it is somewhat amusing, and had potential. if you like it 'as is'- more power to you. I'm just not a fan of the nonsense hentai it's quickly becoming.

  • Overall Score

The story is pretty good.  Humor, violence, LitRPG elements, sex, adventure.  The title is a pun the MC's specie - an animated carnivorous treasure chest (which is also the basis of in-story puns and misunderstandings), though a significant portion of the cast does actually have large breasts.  Writing quality is well above average for this site.

The MC's basic nature is accurately sumarized by the author as "a toddler with a gun".  The main thrust of the story is the MC's quest to fulfill its desires for food, power, and shiny things, made humorous by the MC's stupidity, ignorance, warped perspective, and peculiar luck.

A word of caution: There is sex and general sexual themes despite the MC being essentially sexless.  Kinks are numerous and include socially unacceptable / illlegal activities (vore, tentacles, rape, futa, snuff, etc), and are usually expressed humorously and/or light-heartedly.  If that combination is likely to offend / scar you then avoid it.  The same applies to the non-sexual portions of the story (for instance, the MC nuking a town of 8000 can be played for laughs), but no one minds that.

Deranged, but amazing!

This story is not an ordinary mimic of a fantasy novel. It has such an ingenious albeit nefarious twist to its plot. The story had me trapped in a vicelike jaw of teeth and I couldn't tear myself away from reading it until I caught up to it's current chapter release.

This story is a hidden gem that I will vehemently argue to stand toe to toe with major literature works.

If you haven't read this yet, you are missing out. Simply put.

The only thing I will warn you about is there are some perverse and twisted parts to the story. Which literally ends up becoming a longstanding joke. You might argue it's a tasteles thing but then again you might argue it's quite tasty.
