The Arcane Emperor
- Sexual Content
Rainer, an amateur arcanist and college student, sought to create a new spell far surpassing the magic of the few he inherited from his grandfather. Yet the interference of an unknown event during the casting of his spell led him to be thrown through space and time.
Where status screens were accepted as normal and class distinctions were quite clear. Leveling and achieving a class beyond a simple farmer or peddler was an affair of life and death combined with years of hard training. Goblins were not the fodder that they should be, orcs filled bedtime stories in order to scare children into behaving, and a dragon? You might as well pack up and move to another country.
He, however, enters this world with the rare and powerful class of the Arcanist. How will the recently ardent seeker of magic find greater heights, or will he land in deeper depths?

I'm current up to date at chapter 32: There isn't really anything I can harp on as bad in this novel so far. Even with the sexual content which I don't care for I still really enjoy reading this.
Style: the style isn't amazing but is well above average and seems to be improving as the story progresses.
Story: So far the story is just introducing the world and getting the mc to where he needs to be to achieve his goals strength wise but the author has foreshadowed the direction somewhat giving you something to anticipate and allowing for protagonists not to be just there for the sake of being there.
Grammar: I'm definitely not a true authority on grammar but so far there hasn't been anything extremely annoying and I've read published works with worse mistakes even after professional editing.
Character: I like the main character as he isn't the most intelligent, in fact unlike most main characters he doesn't manage to think of everything or succeed the first time at everything he tries, he is learning as he goes and it is pretty nice. As for other characters they are a bit 2d personality wise but acceptably so and better yet they actually have value other dragging the main character into fights as they are actually useful for things other than comedy and putting the mc in bad situations.
Overall: this story and characters show great promise and that is just in 30+ good sized chapters(probably equal to 90+ chapters of most wn). If recommend this to anyone who enjoys watching a character grow and adjust and build relationships as well as strength.
Great read. Impressive characters. Compelling plot and storylines that pull you in. Lots of rich material in world development and MC backstory to be explored. Overall, I highly recommend this novel to fans of the genre.
I am really loving this story. The first few chapters were a little rough to get into, but after a few of them it really sucked me in. There are some mistakes with the grammer but it is still above the RRL average. Overall the story line and characters are fantastic. OP MC's are OP, but he is not ridicously OP so its still enjoyable for me to watch him continue to grow and learn.
Thanks for the work and I'm looking forward to more updates.
I found this story a couple of days ago and once I started reading I just couldnt put it down!
As many of the reviews before this stated, the early chapters are okay, but the later chapters are nothing but:
void and arcane yada yada
XXXX1 Spell level up
XXXX2 Spell level up
XXXX3 Spell level up
XXXX Experience points for achieving max level XXXX1 spell
XXXX Experience points for gaining the title Boring Shit
XXXX experience for yada yada.
zero character development
If you DON'T want to read, and want to only look at skills, spells, titles. Try this fic, or better yet, just play a game.
now... before you read this please understand that i am giving this a slightly higher score than i would normally give just because i think that this is a genuinly good story just simply not for me. i personally read up to and including chapter 55 while there are 62 chapters out so the story might have (i doubt much changed) changed and gotten better but i will change this review if soo
Style- personally really like antihero type of style and the Author does a really good job of making a world and general feel that makes you like the fiction itself i have pretty much no complaints for the style itself and like how the magic in the story feels really well thought out.
story- the story itself is quite good, granted the villians kinda just feel like they are bad guys just cuz they can be bad and some ppl may think that makes the story less immersive since they cant immagine them as real ppl but you also gotta remember that the bad guy is a really old lich and we dont know how undeath effects you as a person. nothing else too really complain or complament here tho i'd say its about as good of a story as "Mythical Conquest" also a descent story on RRL
Grammar- some of the best on the sight that isnt from one of the long time writers on the web site even with how quickly this guy puts out chapters he makes little to no errors and those he does get corrected fast so no complaint
character- this is the part of the story that throws me off of the story. so as i said earlier i quite like the antihero genre however i found myself disliking rainer more and more throughout the story and thus found all of the lackeys that ended up following and non-stop complimenting him increasingly annoying. for a while i couldnt really find out what it was that annoyed me about him but then i thought about it and realized. He is simply too perfect, i mean dont get me wrong i understand that he isnt phisically the greatest but he has his squad of bi#$% all over the place to tank and heal for him and i never really feel like he will lose any of the fights he was in even if he ended up in a coma i knew the whole way through that he will get out with some scrapes maybe a slight curse or 2 (that will go away) and a bunch of level ups then he will go back to sleeping and getting stronger. however this in and of itself isnt what made me dislike him its more that whenever a character is introduced into the story he is always hostile for no real reason even if they help him he will be hostile and no one really finds any fault in that within the story sure maybe he will warm up to them after 10 chapters or so but the same thing will just repeat itself in a few more chp and i feel like this is the kind of guy whome the author will just make everyone like regardless of what he does. however in the end i am also well aware of the fact that my opinion of him is not particularly fair but i honestly cant help but hate him more and more.
all in all i would definetly recomend at least giving this story a try if you like this kind of story and lets face it this is royal road so if you dont like this kind of story your on the wrong website. Also if you can like the characters (Luna is best grill btw) then you will prob fall in love with the story so at least give it a try
Just wanna say Good Job 👏
Let me start off by staying that I liked this story. It had an interesting plot, and it was actually the first novel I read on this site. Now, having said that, let's get into the specific aspects of this story.
Style: The author is pretty good in a lot of ways here for the most part. I will say that occasionally the author will go a bit too in depth and expect the reader to remember everything that was written, but I can look past that. However, my main problem is that Rainer constantly has a solution to every problem he faces. This makes it very difficult to get invested in the characters, because Rainer has never, not once throughout several thousand pages, failed in a major task or in a meaningful way. There isn't any suspense.
Story: The story is fun, even if there isn't necessarily a central plot. It is mainly a slice of life with a few eventual goals that the main character slowly works towards. However, the slow pacing and roundabout way of moving the plot forward makes it a bit tiresome at certain points. For instance, there have been entire chapters dedicated to what Rainer does during Sleep Learning times, which is actually more interesting than it sounds, but does little to push the story along.
Grammar: Not much to say here. Very good grammar, and I only give it a low score if it becomes unreadable. In this case though, I haven't noticed any errors, or if I have they've been few and far between.
Character: The characters in this story are fine, but they oftentimes have predictable reactions and character development often gets put to the side in favor of explaining a new skill or something. Since they have first been introduced, the main characters have had very little development or evolution. Rainer is still a clever person who always has the answer, Luna is the clingy fairy who doesn't help a lot but provides some entertainment, and Kara, the more independent girlfriend who still relies a lot on Rainer to make items to push her forward and also manages to argue with Rainer over a lot. And Gunthar doesn't really have a purpose besides being the tank and another male to react to the females. However, they are still fun to read about most of the time.
Edit: After coming back from hiatus, the author is much improved. The plot is moving along at a faster pace, Rainer is gaining strength, and there is finally someting resembling an end goal. Great to have you back!
The Lit-Rpg mechanics are fairly complicated and leave a lot of room for experimentation and surprising revelations but the system is consistent.
I've read a multitude of Lit-Rpgs, and this is by far the best.
If you want to read about an intelligent hard working protagonist learning to build powerful magicks and fight fiersome foes, this is the story for you!
The story has an excellent pace to it. The writing style is stellar and grammar is near perfect. There are a few incongruities at this point, but I'm hoping that with enough time and more chapters they will be addressed. The story has a nice setting to it, with likeable characters. At this point it is still too early for an incredibly detailed review, considering that the author promised 5 chapters/week and that the plot is still in its infancy.
The one complaint that I have so far is absolutely nothing is known about the origins of the protagonist. But I don't think that this is a big issue, as the author seems to be going for a gradual reveal of the protagonist's past instead of an info dump. That is also fine
As for other readers looking to get a sense of the novel from the reviews, without spoiling too much, this is a summoned to new world story with a twist. So far so good, with enough action and a good deal of humor. I'm leaving it at 4.5/5 for now, as it is too early. Will come back in the future and amend my score.
