The Book of Fawla

Kate visits a secondhand bookstore and finds an old book with an unknown language and takes it home, where a strange phenomenon occurs: her cat Trippy turns into a mountain lion and a hunter appears, bowing before her and calling her the lost princess of Zanor. Kate picks a flower from the tree to communicate with the hunter and is transported to a magical world. There she meets Kreelan, a hunter who takes her to meet Regkor, a scribe prejudiced against humans. But before they can talk, goblins arrive and set fire to Regkor's house, prompting Kreelan to go in and save him. Kate uses her powers to fight off the goblins and save both Kreelan and Regkor. In doing so Regkor apologizes for his prejudice towards humans. Kate then proves herself by using her power to protect a village from a goblin army by creating a wall of plants.
