Yuuto stared Seiji with disbelief, shaking his head.
“I still can’t believe it…”
“Will you, please, let it go?” Seiji said in a tired voice, rolling his eyes. “I can’t have this argument. Not again.”
“But come on.” Yuuto turned on his seat to face Seiji, moving both hands in the air. “How can my boyfriend, no, how can anyone haven’t seen this movie?”
“As I already told you, for the thousandth time, I’m don’t really watch old movies. I can’t believe we are having this argument again,” he muttered.
“I’m gonna stop you right there. It’s not old. It’s a classic!” Yuuto raised his voice, shaking his head again. “I used to watch this all the time when I was a kid.”
“It’s a 70’, 80’ trilogy. Call it classic or whatever you want, they’re still old movies. I wasn’t even born when they came out!”
Yuuto opened and closed his mouth many times, struggling to find words. “How can you say that? By that logic, I’m old too!”
“Oh, look. The popcorn’s ready,” Seiji said, ignoring Yuuto when he heard the microwave ringing.
He went to the kitchen, dumped the popcorn into a bowl and walked back to the living room. Seiji sat on the couch, not looking at the teacher who still stared at him. “Oh, Yuuto, come on. I’m gonna watch the old movie, so stop complaining.”
Yuuto shook his head again, still not believing what his boyfriend had just said.
“Why are you still making that face? Stop sulking and let’s watch the movie…”
“You called me old…” Yuuto said in a low voice, looking away, his cheeks a slight shade of pink.
Seiji chuckled. He placed the popcorn on the coffee table and leaned over Yuuto hugging him. The teacher turned his head, but the painter still kissed him. “I’m sorry for that. You’re not old, you’re mature, develop.”
“You’re not helping,” Yuuto muttered, still pouting. But he was getting less and less mad with each kiss. Soon he smiled and kissed Seiji back. But then he pushed Seiji away. “Wait, I know what you’re doing. You did the same thing last time and we didn’t get to see the movie.”
“I don’t see anything wrong with that,” Seiji said, flashing his sly smile.
Yuuto turned his head away and glanced at his boyfriend through the corner of his eyes. “I love this movie so much and… I wanna share this with you,” he mumbled, blushing.
Seiji widened his eyes. The next second, he sighed and smiled again, only this time it was his gentle. He kissed Yuuto on the cheek and leaned back in his seat.
“Fine, fine. You win. Let’s watch this movie instead of taking advantage of the fact that we have your apartment all to ourselves,” Seiji said, picking up the remote. But before he pressed play, the turned to Yuuto. “You have to promise you won’t do the same thing when you make me watch anime.”
Yuuto thought for a second. “I don’t know what you’re talking.”
This time it was Seiji who look at Yuuto in disbelief. “Really? You don’t know what I’m talking about?” The cosplayer shrugged. The painter took a deep breath. “Every time we watch an anime together, you kept staring at me whenever something good is about to happen. I never get surprised ‘cause you pretty much spoiled it for me.”
Yuuto gasped, putting his hand on his chest. His expression saying that Seiji had said something outrageous. “I would never spoil anything!” he said, speaking slowly to emphasize every word.
Seiji stared at Yuuto with a blank expression. Then he laughed. “Sure, sure. Let’s pretend that’s true,” he said, turning his head back to the TV. “Just make sure you keep your eyes on the screen, okay?”
Yuuto snatched the remote from Seiji’s hand and pressed play, his face already beaming with anticipation. Almost two hours later, the credits rolled down.
“Ah, I like it even more every time I watched it,” Yuuto said, stretching his arms. “It’s such a great movie.”
“Yeah, I have to agree,” Seiji said, leaning back on the couch.
Yuuto widened his eyes, his smile growing even more. “I told you, didn’t I? Next time I suggest a movie, you won’t complain and just watch it, right?”
“Fine, fine. But still, for such an old…” Seiji faltered in the middle of the sentence under Yuuto’s stare. He cleared his throat and continued. “I mean, for such classic movie, the special effects are not bad. And the plot… To be honest, I’m not into sci-fi, but this was too good. It’s better than most movies out today.”
Yuuto nodded, his smile changing. He had an air of superiority, almost like a teacher who just watched his student understanding the beauty of something. “Finally. It’s taken this long, but you’re finally ready.”
“Ready for what…?” The artist backed away a little from his boyfriend, wary of that smile.
“Ready to start watching classic animes, of course.”
Seiji opened his mouth, but then laughed. “Yeah, yeah. Fine, whatever you want. But wipe that smile out of your face.” Seiji reached out to cover Yuuto’s mouth. But then he leaned on the teacher again. “But you don’t have to show me the good things about old thing. I already know.”
The artist showed his sly smile before kissing Yuuto. The teacher reciprocated, but then he realized something.
“Wait, did you just call me old again? I’m only 26!” Yuuto stopped kissing to complain. Then he shook his head and pushed Seiji’s face away. “That doesn’t matter, ‘cause we haven’t finished.”
The artist took Yuuto’s hand and blinked.
“Haven’t finished? We just watched the movie. I liked it, but I’m not watching it twice in a row. I’m not like you.”
“Only the first one. There’s three of them. Actually, there’s six, but you’re not prepared for the other three.”
“Six?” Seiji backed away. “I never agree to that!”
“You don’t have to agree. Because you should want to watch them all. I mean, how can anyone not watch after that ending? There’s still so much. The galaxy is still under the Empire’s grasp!”
Yuuto stared at Seiji, his eyes shining with excitement. The artist, on the other hand, had his mouth open, but he didn’t know what to say.
“I’ll put the next one.” The teacher stood up to put in the next Blu-ray, but before he could sit on the couch again, the doorbell rang. “Start watching. I’ll be right back.”
Yuuto raced to the door. A man with a small brown package stood at the door. A delivery? Did sis order something? He wondered as he got his stamp. But before he used it, he realized the package was for him. Did I buy something?
After the delivery man was gone, Yuuto stayed at the entrance and opened his package Ah… I had forgotten about this… He stared at the black frame for a long time.
“Yuuto, the movie already stared,” called Seiji from the living room.
The teacher looked at his package and then turned to the living room. “Keep watching. I’ll be right back,” he said, racing to the bathroom.
I can’t believe I forgot I had bought this, he thought as he examined the glasses. I’ve been wearing fake glasses for years, but now I finally have to wear it for real… He didn’t know why, but the idea made him feel weird. With a sigh, he put it on and checked himself on the mirror. It looks good. It’s like I’m getting ready to cosplay… but needing glasses… doesn’t this mean I’m getting old?
The moment the teacher heard Seiji’s voice coming to him, he took off the glasses. Hiding behind his back, the moment he turned to the door, his boyfriend opened it. The artist stared at him for a moment.
“Even though I liked the movie, it has no meaning if we don’t watch it together…”
“I know. It’s just that…” Yuuto squeezed the glasses, taking a step back.
“What are you doing?” Seiji asked, narrowing his eyes.
“Nothing…” Yuuto gulped and averted his gaze.
“What are you hiding behind your back?” Seiji came closer to the teacher, his face going from suspicious to curious.
“N-nothing,” Yuuto repeated, taking another step back. But then he felt the sink and there was no more where to back away.
“Glasses?” Seiji was staring something behind the teacher.
Yuuto widened his eyes. How did he know? Then he turned his head. The mirror above the sink showed his entire back. Damn it… stupid mirror, he thought as he stared at the reflection of the object he tried to hide. With a sigh of defeat, he handed the glasses to his boyfriend.
Seiji turned it around, checking it with great interest. Then he put it on. “Real lenses? Why were you trying to hide it?” he asked, handing it back.
“I don’t know…” Yuuto mumbled and averted his eyes.
Once again the teacher’s reaction picked up the painter’s interest.
“Some of your cosplays has glasses, so why hide it? Perhaps… were you embarrassed because they’re for real?”
“Yeah, I was,” he said in a low voice.
Seiji’s face lit as if he understood something.
“Ah… so that’s why you were reacting like that when I said the movies were old.” Seiji looked at Yuuto and smiled. “You think that ‘cause you need real glasses, you’re getting old.”
Yuuto blushed. He was too embarrassed to speak, so he only nodded. My boyfriend knows me so well… I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not…
Seiji looked at the teacher for a long time with an expression Yuuto couldn’t figure out.
“Hey…” He placed a hand on the cosplayer chin and made him look up. “I wanna see you with it.”
Still without figuring out if there was any mocking on Seiji’s tone, Yuuto put the glasses.
“H-how do I look…?” the teacher barely managed to ask, his cheeks a wild shade of red.
Seiji became just as red. Then he averted his eyes, covering his mouth with a hand. “Now I get why people fantasize about sleeping with their teacher. You look too cute with them.”
“You’re just saying…” Yuuto pressed his lips to hide his smile. He was too embarrassed to look Seiji in the eyes. But he still glanced at his boyfriend.
The artist did the same thing. When their eyes met, without another word, they kissed.
Without stopping kissing, Seiji picked up Yuuto and placed him on the counter.
“Wait, Seiji…” Yuuto tried speaking when they stopped kissing for a moment.
“I can’t… not after… seeing you like this…” He took off Yuuto’s shirt, pressing the teacher against the mirror. The teacher was about to take off his glasses when Seiji stopped his hand, staring him in the eyes. “Leave it.”
Yuuto lost control of himself under that stare. He knocked the toothbrushes as he kissed Seiji and tried to take his boyfriend’s shirt too.
They were already sweating and panting when a flash illuminated the bathroom. Blinking, they both stopped and turned to the door.
“Wait, don’t stop on my account,” Yuuto’s sister, Yuuka, said, her face partially hidden behind her smartphone. She took many photos of them, the flash blinding them for a moment. “Wait, on second thought, stop. I need to pee and can’t wait until you two finish having hot and wild BL sex in the bathroom.”
Yuuto’s face went a wild shade of red. His hand looked for his shirt as he tried to explain himself. “W-wait, sis, we weren’t… it’s not… I mean…”
Seiji was flushing too, but instead of mumbling with the words, he could only smile. “Yeah, this is a little break before the movie…”
“Yes!” Yuuto exclaimed suddenly. “We were watching a movie and then—”
“Watching a movie?” Yuuka interrupted with a smile too similar to Seiji’s sly one. “More like starring one. The kind that I’d watch.”
“It’s not like that…” Yuuto blushed even more and he covered his face with both hands. “Seiji, say something!”
“Don’t look at me,” he said laughing. “I don’t know what I can say that won’t make this situation even more embarrassing.”
“Don’t worry little brother. I already gave Seiji my approval to date you. There’s no reason to be embarrassed.”
Yuuto moaned into his hands. Seiji smiled and Yuuka laughed.
“Oh, yeah, little brother. You left the TV on,” she said after she was done laughing. “You always complain a lot when I do that, and yet you forgot to turn it off to have sex with your hot young boyfriend. Not that I’m complaining about this. A real-life BL gives me a lot of inspiration. Just imagining my little brother getting on his knees to have his ass violated…”
“Will you stop fantasizing and listen to me?” Yuuto almost cried when he got down the counter. “We were watching a movie, but then this package arrived, and I came to the bathroom and then—”
“Sure, sure. I can imagine what kind of package was being delivered here, ” Yuuka interrupted him again in a monotone voice. But the smile never left her face. “But fine, I’ll play along. What movie were you two watching?”
“Star Wars,” Yuuto said, full of confidence.
Yuuka stopped texting. She took her eyes off her phone and turned to her little brother. The next moment, the mocking was gone from her face. “I can’t believe you didn’t call me to watch it. It’s been ages since I last saw the entire trilogy. In fact, I need to watch it so the dark side won’t win.”
“Seiji’s never seen it, you know?” Yuuto said, turning to his boyfriend.
The artist looked between the siblings with a blank expression. “So what?”
“So what?” Yuuka’s expression turned into disbelief. She put her hand on her chest, shaking her head. “How’s that possible? The only people who haven’t seen Star Wars are the characters. And that’s because they lived it! They lived the star wars!”
Seiji raised his hands defensively. “I don’t know what to say. I’m not into old movies…” The moment he said it, he closed his eyes, realizing his mistake. He covered his face with a hand, his expression full of regret.
“Old movies? Old movies? They’re timeless classic!” Yuuka seemed she had been insulted. She opened and closed her mouth several times, struggling for words. “I can’t believe my little brother’s boyfriend has no taste in movies! Yuuto, we need to fix him now. There’s no way I can accept that.”
“I can’t believe I’m having the same conversation with a different member of the Amano family,” Seiji muttered, shaking his head.
Yuuto could only smile at the situation. “We just finished A New Hope, sis,” he said, glancing at his boyfriend. He knew what was coming next.
“Then let’s watch the other two right now. You know what? I wanna see episode four. Do you two have any plans for tonight?”
Seiji stared intently at Yuuto. His eyes said everything. He was begging his boyfriend to do something. But all the teacher did was show a sly smile.
“No. No plans at all,” he said, enjoying his boyfriend’s desperation.
“Excellent!” Yuuka entered the bathroom and dragged Seiji to the living room. “Then I’ll lecture your boyfriend on the wonders of the saga.”
“Wait, Yuuka-nee. Didn’t you have to use the bathroom?” Seiji said, still begging for Yuuto’s help with his eyes.
“How can I pee when the galaxy is still under the empire’s rule?” Yuuka’s voice suggested as if that should be obvious.
“Yuuto, say something!” Seiji finally gave up the silent begging.
The cosplayer beamed as he watched his sister drag his boyfriend to the living room.
“I’ll make more popcorn,” Yuuto said, beaming. He was too happy because he would watch his favorite saga with the people he loved the most.
