Spellbook is a leather-bound tome with bronze or brass corner protectors. The leather is a dark chestnut brown. The face of the cover is neither leather nor metal, but scales from some lizard. The scales are bronze in color. I seem to recall the scales simply being a stamped pattern in a lighter leather when I first got the book.
Set in the center of the scaled region is a crest. The center is a black metal disc, and around it are three interlocking rings. Each ring is also made of metal, but each are enameled with a slight different hue: brown, blue, and silver.
