The story follows Matt, a young man planning to delve the rifts responsible for the monsters that destroyed his city and killed his parents. His dreams are crushed when his Tier 1 Talent is rated as detrimental, and no guild or group will take him.
Working at a nearby inn, he meets a mysterious and powerful couple. They give him a chance to join The Path of Ascension, an empire wide race to ascend the Tiers and become living legends.
With their recommendation and a stolen skill, Matt begins his journey to the peak of power.

Chapters will now be MONDAY and FRIDAY AT 3:00pm EST.
This is a mix between LitRPG and Xianxia. It's like a car that looks like a LitRPG with dungeons and skills, but the interior and engine are all Xianxia.
So no blue boxes and clicking +’s to get stronger.
***
What you won't see in this novel:
Bland protagonists.
Bland love interests that immediately fall in love with the MC.
Murder hobos who kill entire families and clans for looking the wrong way at somebody.
Pacifist MC’s who wouldn't kill a single person to save millions.
Cartoonish villains who are bad just to be bad.
***
What to expect:
A MC who acts rationally.
World building that has more depth than ‘strong people 'stronk'. There will be no rules only benefiting the strong and no rule changes as they see fit.
An empire that actually cares for its citizens.
People who act and talk like real people.
A magic system and progression system that are logically and internally consistent.
Realistic fight scenes.

Fantastic

I wish I could either erase my memories so I could read this for the first time again, or travel to the future to read it after its complete. I'm a huge sucker for ambitious world building, and this delivers in spades, with nearly every chapter deepening my craving to know more about the world the characters live and fight in. The power system is also very interesting, with a cultivation inspired system with pseudo litRPG elements in the form of skills and mana existing, however it isn't forced or cliched feeling at all, and somehow both worlds blend together perfectly. I'm not going to act like some professional critic who can tell you about how great or bad the character writing or pacing is, but from my view its very good. This is the one story I'm constanltly refreshing my follow list page every day for, even though I know the days it updates. 1000% worth checking out.

Good stuff. Some people may not like it so I can get it. I'm kinda biased if you can get me thoroughly hooked and keep me hooked so that's what happened here. So I'm not really gonna be a stickler for little details that might be incongruent for the story. It feels pretty good.
I'm kinda just here for the experience of another world but still familiar (I guess) to what I know. And I find that it delivers, at least for me. A lot of this is pretty standard for what the author was saying he wanted to do. Although I find it just a bit weird how the MC is so matured physically and stuff at a young age, I'm sure the author can just come up with whatever they want to because it doesn't really matter. It's actually similar to xianxia's and wuxia's in this sense as the MC's start pretty young.

Excellent worldbuilding, light on plot.

While I personally found this an enjoyable story, I also find campaign settings interesting reads. With a few exceptions, most of the time Matt and his group have plenty of resources, have good luck, and few real concerns. The goverment is strong and deals with the standard 'young master scumbags' and 'honnored elder scumbags', so we don't worry much about trouble pushing down tiers (what more normal novels would call cultivation realms).
The result is a very Slice-of-life exploration of the universe. Its fun, has good writing style and no grammer issues, and a interesting style, but often there isn't much plot. While it might change in future arcs, that comes with risk of an awkward genre shift when it moves from slice of life to dealing with the forshadowed problems.

On par with Azarinth

A great story that has an amazing sense of depth to the characters, their relationships, and overall universe. The characters are different, powers are diverse, and the author has a great sense on how to write both relaxed dialogue and fighting scenes. I believe this fiction would be higher on the popular this week list once the chapters start catching up to the other bigger names. I think the only downside to the story is how the mc has to hide their abilities which always annoys me in stories, but it gets easily over shadowed by everything else that is good in it. I look forward to the higher tiers and seeing how all three of the main characters change as their powers grow.

Good work Kepp it up!

Very good work. The main story so far consist of 2 main character + some sidekicks + some short sidestories.
The "level up" progress is very good explained. Characters very well done and are beliable. And sometimes cliffhangers are really hair pullers. The MC "cheat" is quite clever idea and i cant wait what he is going to do with it.
Wish I would have 200 chapter more for this evening!

nice read

I have enjoyed reading this book. the characters are young but growing well I hope to see more growthout of them. I like the story style and gramer are good. overall well done, more pl lol. I like the side story was hoping you would do a few of them, just want to see them all do a few hunts togather.

Keep Up the good work

This is one of the best progression stories I am reading on royal road i like Matt's style and his penchant for the betterment of all members of society .
Your writing style of shifting between P.O.V.'s is very good and it seamlessly integrates into the story .
thanks for writing a good story and keep up the good work

Favorite System

I definitely read a whole lot more than I review or comment, but had to comment after getting caught up.
This is by far one of my favorite worlds/systems that I've come across. It hits all the high points with a little bit of sci-fi, a little bit of AI, and cultivation. Infinite ways to match talents and skills.
I'm glad I came across it when there were already 100+ chapters becasue I would have run out even faster otherwise.
I might not have been on this site enough, but I would love to see more in line with this type of sci-fi/cultivation blend.

Decent

It started off well but I don't really like stories with too much romance in them, I'm here mainly for the lone wolf progression and such. I didn't really like how it started revolving around how nice the mc is, I prefer stories where the main character is a bit colder with a bit more grit though I still enjoy when softer emotions are displayed. Overall, ok story, just not really my cup of tea.

Excellent story

This story is one of the best stories on royal road. Great plot, believable characters, and will written with great editing. The story has a healthy mix of fighting, crafting, and character interactions. The characters actually grow and develop.
I find that a lot of cultivation stories drag on by telling every little thing that the MC does to progress to drag out chapters, but this story has a healthy pace and even has a few time skip/training montage to keep the story moving.
The chapters are long so I don't feel like the 2 chapters per week are a disappointment.
Over all a really great story that I recommend people should read.
**Liz's parents are the absolute best side characters ever! I really want more scenes with them!**
