The Netherworld: it is a hellish landscape inhabited only by demons, creatures born from the dark abyss. It is also the only world Salvos knows.

Joining the ranks of newborn demons, Salvos is thrown into the violent, anarchy-ruled landscape of that world. To survive, she will have to learn, she will have to adapt, and she will have to evolve. She will gain experience to reach new Levels of power.

Her curiosity aids her but her pride could be her fall. It is the nature of the Netherworld to avoid or conquer any threats faced. After all, the law of evolution is survival of the fittest, and Salvos is a survivor. And perhaps, eventually, she will leave this world behind for a better place. But is that what she even wants?

Do note that it's a slow-paced but action-packed litrpg!

This story is very pleasant.

as described in the blurb, the MC grows up from a semi-conscious blob of demon matter, like a seacucumber... and into much more.

I love that the author managed to show the growing consciousness, the efforts to understand the world when one knows the vocabulary (because the blob know have to think, using words), but not the concepts, not the meaning, not the implications...

the progression is relatively slow... but in 12 chapters, much has changed, so maybe it's not so slow.

but clearly our favourite blobby is at the bottom of the food-chain, and we are roughly at the introduction to the world.

so he can only grow, and bring change!

Go try it

Character

This is a story I'm glad I picked up. Rather than an isekai where the main character has a general understanding of what is going on around them, we see Salvos fumbling through a world she is still learning how to process as the story progresses, exploring both her own thoughts and the actions of others. The story has taken on an interesting tone, it can be funny and ironic at times, but it hits you with real ideas and emotions every now and again. These two aspects have been mixed really well and made for an enjoyable read in an evolution fantasy I'd say is worth reading.

TLDR: This story is great, consistent with what's existing, unpredictable (in a good way) with what comes next, has virtually no grammar issues, and actually takes the time to develop characters in meaningful ways. A good read that I recommend giving a shot.

Style (5 stars)
The point of view is spot on as Salvos develops, no lapses in perspective. The style the story is written in, the word choices used, they all add something to the story. Not using blue boxes is a bold move, but it fits Salvos well, we can get constant updates on Salvos's status and flow right into the rest of the story, making the system take a little bit more of a back seat here, it's just another part of the world.

Story (4 stars)
This is a familiar set of situations, but it has its differences. The story in hindsight is well planned out. Following a character who, as they learn more about the world set a set of firm goals and keep with them thoughout situations she herself is challenged with, it keeps the story fresh; just about anything can happen, and it will fit right in when it's all tied together later. Even in the action scenes, the story flows well, leaving almost no incentive to skip over to the gains. During the in between scenes, when characters are showing off who they are and plot is advancing, the read remains interesting. This story is a bit on the slower side, but everything that happens builds the story in some way.

Grammar (4.5 stars)
There are very few errors that jumped out to me, nothing that detracts from the flow of the story. Any that you can find, you can probably fix in your head as you read.

Character (4.5 stars)
The world Salvos has initially been dropped into doesn't leave much opportunity for character development, though this changes further along into the story. However, almost all of those opportunities are seized to further both Salvos's character and those around her. Salvos is a growing character whose knowledge has holes, she is discovering more about herself, and it's wonderful to read. Different thoughts and mannerisms occur in the other characters that have been mentioned, and they stick to these actions consistently, even chapters apart. Salvos isn't the only one receiving development, and that's really cool in a demon story. The only thing I can really find difficult about the characters is that sometimes it feels like time has been forcefully set aside for character development, that's the only gripe I've got. This has gotten better in later chapters however.

I like it.

Good grammar. Good character progression. I like the system of skill and stats based on points.

I like the world building. I like the

I like her curiosity about human nature.

I don't have much else to say.

I need to post 50 words? But I don't know what to say. I said already all that was in my mind.

I like her companion. He's good. Hope he becomes the next demon king. Or maybe something similar.

This is an excellent story! Salvos is awesome!

This is an excellent story! Salvos is awesome!

I really enjoy the progression of Salvos from her time in the Nether world, the events that lead to being transported to the Mortal world, and her journey to get back.

The setup for the Djinn as the main enemy for the arc was well done and I really like how Salvos's character has progressed from the simple thoughts/needs of an infant demon to more complex, but still simple, thoughts/needs as an evolved demon. Her oversimplifications of varions situations and her misunderstandings of 'common human knowledge' are very funny. My favorite being the whole "you will not feed me to a restaurant" bit.

The only negative I can think of are the occasional grammar errors. Luckily they are minor and I can still easily understand what you were trying to say.

The main character is really well written as a powerful warrior with the innocence of a child. You really notice her gradual personality and behavioural change because of the environment she has been thrown into.

The side characters are nicely written with their own goals and motivations and the story flows nicely from one plot point to the next without seeming forced.

Would definitely recommend for some lighthearted reading without overly complex storytelling, enjoyable action and great character interactions.

Good Story: I've bought book 1.

Reviewed at: 124. Combination

Good worldbuilding.  No info dumps, author has revealed the lore mostly via show, not tell.

Dialog: The dialog has become pretty good.  The author has improved significantly from the earlier chapters.

Fights: Early on in story they are a bit weak, now into book 2, they are getting good.  Author has really improved through the story.

I've enjoyed the story so much, that I bought the book when the author published it.  I am eagerly awaiting future content.

Slow start but gets way better rather fast

Reviewed at: 65. Eye for an Eye

As I said the first few chapters are kind of slow. Nothing happens other than Salvos pointlessly leveling. After those few chapters the story gets more complex and more emotionally involved. It is not just Salvos anymore and we get some kind of plot going. It is at that point where the story gets good.

Overall, once you pass the slow part, it is worth a read. Try it out!

Salvos is an unique story. I’m personally not a fan of game-like statistic in stories, but this one did an amazing job with it, which made me not only accept such setting, but to actually enjoying it. As title said, Salvos is a name of protagonist. She’s a demon with conscious, which gives her ability to think, feel and make decisions in contrast to others of her kind. As readers we witnesses her birth and first struggles in this unknow, and soon to be see, brutal world. As her adventure starts, she have only one goal – to level up and learn more about the world and herself. As I said before, Salvos is aware of her actions and everything what happens around her. As readers we see everything from her perspective, hear her thoughs, and feeling all of her emotions. Salvos grow up with every new chapter, both physically and mentally, by making small and big mistakes, but also winning battles with other demons. I absolutly loved the scene, when she understood that sometimes it’s good to have an companion, and made her first ally – that was truly amazing, and even heartwarming in some way to see her getting, in fact, a friend for the first time, who is not much other than her. When it comes to writing style, Delta did a great job. I’m not native English speaker, and yet I were reading fast and without any troubles. Author know how to manage emotions and action, and this is absolutly wonderful. I enjoyed every page, and I hope to enjoy more in future! Summary: it’s very well-done story. If it could get me to read it with red cheeks when I don’t really like RPG-Game styled stories, then it’s really worth a go for anyone. If you, just like me, love complex character developement and first-person stories, where emotions and thoughs are so strong that you can feel it on your skin, I recommend Salvos. Thank you Delta, as I spend great time reading your work.

A monster is born, explores the world and grows stronger. I am trash for this kind of story. Unlike the rest, this isn't an isekai, this is just a monster with some sense of identity from birth. Salvos crawls out of the abyss that all demons are born from, and while she knows nothing about the world, she knows that she's Salvos.

Only bad thing about the story is that it's only 9 chapters. I want more.

Almost great, MC getting a bit annoying

Reviewed at: 122. Helping Hand

This story is kind of a guilty-ish pleasure for me. I'm a sucker for monster evolution stories, and this one encapsulates most of what I love about them. The leveling up, the new skills and abilities, the new looks the MC evolves into...

But as much as I like this story, there are some things that just irk me a ton.

There will be some minor spoilers ahead, so read at your own risk.

1. Style:

Honestly, pretty standard as far as I could recall. The fight scenes were all quite well done. 4.5 stars.

2. Story:

I love the fact that there is some worldbuilding going on. There's the demon world where our MC starts off in, the different races, what wars are going on, and even some history of this world.

There are inlkings to a deeper story, with the MC's companion being a hero summoned from Earth, but so far all we've gotten are assassins. I'm hopeful that that plotpoint will get expanded upon in the near future.

Only reason I'm giving this a 3.5 stars out of 5 is the fact that the MC kinda just gets yeeted to the human world pretty early on, and we kinda just forget about the demon realm (and MC's first companion) afterwards.

3. Grammar:

Pretty sure it's near perfect. I don't recall any major mistakes, and when there are mistakes they are few and far between. 4.5 stars out of 5.

4. Characters:

I like Salvos as a character, I really do. But after over a hundred chapters of her, I'm kind of getting annoyed. She has a personality of a bratty 5 year old. I mean, it's understandable at first. I'm pretty sure she's like 2 or 3 years old technically speaking. But she never. Grows. Up. Her personality barely changes at all, and at this point I'm pretty sick and tired of her childishness. If you can stomach a character like that, then you'll have no problem with this story.

The other characters are honestly really well done. They have depth, and actually develop as characters. Salvos's two companions both have their own backstory, goals, and flaws, and quite frankly they are the only reason I'm giving this series a 3 stars out of 5 for its character score and not 2.

Conclusion:

All in all, this is a solid series. The author pumps out chapters even though he had been in university (gratz on graduating btw!) and they are all pretty high quality stuff. The biggest thing, in my opinion, that will make or break this series is Salvos's personality. If you can stomach it, you will love this series. If you can't stand Salvos's personality and antics, then you will probably have a hard time reading this series.

4 stars out of 5, pretty dang good.
