The Perfect Run

by Void Herald

Ryan "Quicksave" Romano is an eccentric adventurer with a strange power: he can create a save-point in time and redo his life whenever he dies. Arriving in New Rome, the glitzy capital of sin of a rebuilding Europe, he finds the city torn between mega-corporations, sponsored heroes, superpowered criminals, and true monsters. It's a time of chaos, where potions can grant the power to rule the world and dangers lurk everywhere.

Ryan only sees different routes; and from Hero to Villain, he has to try them all. Only then will he achieve his perfect ending... no matter how many loops it takes.

Void Herald has done it again!

What can't this man do???

This is a story that makes you both want to devour it in a furore of fevered hunger, and also slowly savour the brilliantly crafted flavours the author has imbued into it.

The style is symphonic, the story intense, the characters absolutely beautifully rendered, and the grammar flawless.

*shivers* .. Delectable

Wacky Time Travel Adventure With Existential Dread

Reviewed at: 39: Court of the Lightning King

This novel is a familiar cup of tea, a simple premise coupled with a thrilling execution. It is as if you mixed BioShock with Fallout: New Vegas, but this comparison is very disingenuous, it is different enough and I like Fallout.

Superpowers are simple but there is more than meets the eye, decent Sci-fi and aesthetic that has various levels of Cyberpunk, Nuclearpunk, and Steampunk.

This isn't like most loop stories, which follow a linear path of progression like a Roguelike RPG. This is more akin to a detective story with an already strong Protag, the story progresses as we meet new characters and the more we understand about them and the world.

My complaint with the story is that there are too many references and the humor is sometimes too reliant on them. I also don't like the meta pop culture 4th wall breaking, it feels like youtube is feeding me clips again, but that is not a weakness.

Edit: Bumped up the score by 0.5 stars - strong 4 and light 4.5 for now, The Perfect Run has only gotten better. Not just fun, TPR has substance too - one of the best stories on RR.

The first chapter is a bit of a slog to get through since Quicksave seems like yet another OP, wacky hero. But if you push through, a real story begins to unfold.

It's too early to tell how good The Perfect Run will be, but I guarantee it's going to be good fun.

Wear Helmet and Protect your Sides before reading

The funniest story on RR. I didn't start this for a long while, actually I wanted to wait till it had 1000+ pages, but alas my HUNGER forced me to click on the first chapter.

I haven't laughed this much in a decade.

You have to read this. Drop EVERYTHING and read this now. You won't regret this at all. Doesn't matter one whit where your reading tastest are oriented.

Wait no, that's not the same story.

Seriously though, this fiction is great. It starts strong, I've found the main character immediately interresting.

Have you ever wanted to redo a conversation? A job interview or maybe just do something differently. Well the main character of this story can do exactly that, and he's immortal. But don't tell anyone.

He's funny and isn't afraid to take action, but as the story progress you learn more about him and his background. It takes a concept easy to understand and develops it through solid worldbuilding, conspiracies and schemes.

And, best of all, you get to see all sides of the conflict.

Side characters are all pretty much written well with a solid backstory and motives.

Follow the adventures of a mad man with a friendly plushy and a safety fusion-based bang snap.

Very impressed with this one, read the summary and dismissed it originally, but after coming back and reading the first chapter or so I was hooked.

Essentially you have a superpowered protagonist who upon death reverts to a savepoint. Hence, quicksave. This has made him rather unhinged, full of puns, weapons up every crevice and always looking for a thrill. Generally involving explosions. He carries a portable a-bomb.

A very solid story, it kicks into gear fast, no slow start. Definitely worth reading a few chapters to see if it's your thing.

Quicksave is quick way to get addicted to reading!

This review is up to chapter 24.

I love the story overall. The way it unfolds, the way small flashbacks help build the past, how everything is brought together and how it fits so well ! It is a lot of fun to read and follow.

Style-wise, the author's work is brought with a narrator that is often assimilated with the character. It brings a lot of fun to see the thoughts of the character followed.

Character-wise, the MC is strongly likeable and very much immortal for now. That doesn't mean he has no weaknesses, which are often made known. The insane-happy-go-lucky feeling used to cover his overall apathy is very relatable and justly brought about by the author.

Grammar-wise, the work is a solid and good piece of writing. Few to no mistakes whatsoever per chapters. Pleasing to the eye and soothing to the soul.

Overall, I started this story 2 days ago and now I'm all caught up. It is a fun read that nonetheless brings existencial questions on the table under the veil of snarky comments and dumb puns alike. I'd like to say it can be put as a post-apocalyptical intellectubrawl dramedy but I would be overstepping...

Anyway just go and read the heck out of it ! It's worth your time, notice, and review ! I guarrantee it !

Redeyes Eclipse

I find the MC personality to be original and entertaining with cleaver remarks and highly cultured reference and highly intelligent.

The only problem I have is I find the side character lose their value or impact as they aren't really don't hot development but that the frustrating uniqueness I like oddly.

All in all this story is incredibly deep and very fast paced and slow ASF as well giving it the most weirdest vibes ever.

The grammer and world building is pure genius to a point of idolization as a struggling author myself I somewhat envy his mechanics building and such.

The characters personality is eccentric and egotistical narcissistical nihilistic to a point where I'm like give a brother a break author 🤣

Anyways I love your work void I love you as a fan I find some of your saying offensive but I know your heart in the right place and keep up the beautiful story and love this hero vs villian genre

Somehow manages to combine Deadpool, cyberpunk, Fallout New Vegas, a little bit of bioshock, and the movie Palm Springs and makes it work really well. I recommend reading it if you like time loops or have an interest in any of the disparate blend of influences that makes up this story.

Its like you combine Mother of learning with Neuromancer, and then add a little Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy type of humor.

So far the pacing is very quick and its all sunshine and potential. Hope the author can keep up the quality.

And since the site insists i waste your time with more words this....
