I distinctly remember reading this fiction, whether it was on here or on the author's website a couple of years ago. I was instantly hooked. I look forward to reading it all over again.

It has great writing, it reads similar to Brandon Sanderson's Steelheart series but more grittier and with more expletives. It's a very polished story, read it and you won't be disappointed.

Excellent pace and description

Reviewed at: Episode Nine

I don't normally read stories with superheroes, but this one intrigued me.  It adeptly melds the idea of a world populated with capes, or people with abilities, with that of a mystery that must be solved.  It's something like a superpowered detective novel.

In my opinion, this twist helps it to stand out, as it's not full of pointless, mindless battle scenes.  To be honest, up to chapter nine it has only one battle scene, but it's well scripted and has a purpose.  It's a fight our reluctant hero, Gabe, is trying to avoid, as the nature of what he is has forced him into a life in the shadows.

Don't be turned off by the lack of battle scenes.  The story surrounding it and what it leads up to is both heart-pounding and heartfelt.  It keeps you on the edge of your seat, needing to know more.  This is what all stories strive for.  This is a goal Inheritors achieves.

Also, don't be deterred by the Prologue, which I found misleading and vague.  Oftentimes a story doesn't need a Prologue anyway.  I feel this is one of those times.  I find it's best to pick this story up at Episode One.

Overall, Inheritors is an excellent and well-told story that stands out in a sea of far less worthy stories within its genre.  It's also one of the few stories here on Royal Road that has an audio link for Youtube.  This is also well-read, with few mistakes and accompanied by appropriate music.  Add all this with the help of a woman voicing the female characters and you'll find the audio version adds an atmosphere that further helps to place you in the story.

I read the original here on royalroad and didn't finished before the author seemingly restarted it. I was enraptured with that even though I never caught up to the current release and fell off. I had always planned to come back and finish it, so now when I looked it up today after being reminded about it via TopWebFiction, I'm ecstatic to see how polished it is in comparison to the story I first read. I can't wait to see how the story changes and continues after the prologue. I have faith that megajoule will tell this story at their best and once again can't wait to see where they go. I hope you all enjoy the story too!
