Emperor of Poker
by Samsara With Words
"To outplay a man in poker is to own him in mind, wallet, and soul." - Joey Fiore, World Series of Poker champion.
Have you ever dreamed of becoming a millionaire overnight? It was the start of the poker boom and that was the dream of millions of poker players around the world. All types of geniuses, gamblers, and hustlers flocked to poker rooms with ambitions of making it big. Follow Joey, a teenager with the special ability of an empath, as he rises to challenge the greatest poker players in existence.
Empath: someone with the abnormal ability to experience the thoughts and emotions of others. (*This is a real life ability.)
*Like other sports or game novels, you don’t need to understand poker to enjoy this novel. It’s written in a reader-friendly manner. While I’ll introduce poker basics at a gradual pace in the background, the focus will be on thrilling competitions and dramatic aspects that everyone can relate to.
*A new chapter daily Mon-Thur.

Really addicting sports novel and funny
Reviewed at: Chapter 25: Everything I want to do is illegal
I didn't know anything about poker when I started this, but it didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying this novel. I even feel like I could play now if I needed to.
I also laughed hysterically at the comedy bits. Highly recommend!

Wow!

Haven't read anything like this before. It feels like a sports manga but a bit darker. Very easy to follow along with the poker too even though I didn't know much when I started. Going to be following this one closely

Love it cant get enough

Previous poker dealer I dont normally like reading books about it yet reading this just brought back all the funny moments of dealing. Its a dream come true, would of been intresting to see someone with this skill set at the table and see if the floor determined it as cheating etc.

Very nice novel!

It very interesting. The poker exciting. I never read novel like this before. I found funny and easyread. I hope writer make many more chapters and Joey goes play versus tv professionals. Worth a read and I recommend!

i love poker and always have, i dont mind the jargon and explanations but the attempted comedy falls super flat and is just annoyingly cringe. really ruined the novel for me .

I would give it more credit if this was a translated WebNovel story. Characters were written poorly but are read as if the author decided to push it to a 12 and made it cringe. Same with the humor as most of the jokes feel like one liners that missed more than making sense.
I won't criticize the poker terms because that's an actual challenge in sport stories but it reads too much as an educational info dump instead of the MC learning it organically. For instance, show one term, explain it in a game, play out the hand and then reinforce the term the next hand. Yet the explanation is still written better then the rest of the story.
Overall, no idea how this made it on trending but hey maybe if you're reading this review you can write a better story and find success as well.
