This blew me away with the force of someone being turbo launched by a tree. It's fantastic! The vengeance is well motivated and well planned out. The characters are interesting. The mini stories are hilarious and oddly inspiring. Everything is just fantastic!

Every Gamer's Dream

Reviewed at: Jank

Ever get tired of the glitches or upcharges in your favorite games? Then this story is for you. Clever, exciting, and a lot of fun, this story will leave you cheering by the end. The speedrun to end all speedruns shows how knowledge and vengence make for an unbeatable combination.

For a short story, we get to know the main character extremely well. No bland character here as we see their anger, frustration, and worry as they work to destroy the game they once loved. Nice little touches of humor and we see the inner workings of the game as it tries to cope with all the unexpected events.

Full of little details and perfect grammar, this story was a pleasure to read.

A bunch of great tales for the price of one!

Reviewed at: Hacker

This is a collection of super-short stories. As of yet (number 6 "Hacker") not a single one failed to impress.

While spanning a wide arc of genres - fantasy, SciFi, shooters - they're all witty and touch on points every gamer hates, loves or just plain wishes he could experience at least once.

highly recommended!

JANK MMO - BRILLIANT STORY

Reviewed at: Jank

For readers who like speed runs, comeuppance, and glitching fun

An amazing short story: perfect grammar, chockful of small details that showed the character and moved the story forward, and with a little bit of insight on how software might look at glitch causing action (and figure out the final decision).

As much as I wish this was longer, the style works best as a short story... or should I say, a speed story? Spinning attack pig? Check. Vengeance? Double check. Made me snicker/laugh? Triple check!

A Wonderful Compilation of Short Stories!

Reviewed at: Hacker

The stories are all about playing video games, with a focus on breaking the game.  Each chapter has a different Main Character and a different way of glitching the game.

All of these short stories make me wish they would be expanded on.  After reading them I feel so at peace.  The author has done a wonderful job!

Here are the summaries of the first 4 chapters (if someone is still on the fence):

The first story, Jank, is about a game tester who plans on getting revenge against "Con Man Claude", who ruined a potentially amazing VRMMO in an effort to scam money out of the users.  The ending is completely satisfying.

The 2nd and 3rd chapters are the only two that are linked to the same world.  An old Olympic boxer, with no knowledge of games, joins his nephew for a dungeon raid.  He does surpisingly well.  Chapter 3 is literally the short fallout of the events from chapter 2.

Chapter 4, God Mode, is about a man who's equipment is buggy and, instead of abusing it, takes his time to enjoy the little easter eggs left behind by the developers.  The story is so wholesome, it just put a smile on my face.

Love the creativity here

Reviewed at: Jank

My favorite thing about this collection is that I never know what a new chapter will bring, but I know I'll like it. Just little bursts of creativity and glimpses into the wider world. It's a refreshing change of pace from the format of the sprawling million-word epic, and I really appreciate the ability to convey an entire story, complete with compelling characters and satisfying resolutions, within a few thousand words.

Fantastic Collection!

Reviewed at: Hacker

Great bunch of stories, helped me get out of my reading funk. Hope to see something more long form in the future! Are any of there going to become full length books at some point? I think God Mode could make for a good longer story, or possibly more of the Hacker story as a gritty brothers in arms type story that goes on and on through their campaign.

Short and sweet

Well written and the perfect length for its subject matter. If you are familiar with speedrunning, you will enjoy the crazieness. If not, you might be inspired to check out a run (I reccomend a run of Breath of the Wilds from ADGQ).

If you like speedruns, you'll like this story

Creative, punchy, and funny take on gamelit, what more could I ask for?

I really enjoyed reading about breaking this game. It reminded me of watching speedruns on GDQ. The parts with the game's voice were really funny, makes me wonder if you could write a whole book that way.

Looking forward to the next one!

Quite enjoyable and satisfying stories about buggy messes that games are, all wrapped up into a suprising amount of wholesomness. Whether you want to binge read all of them or only somemething to read for 10-15 minutes, you can take any of them and be thorougly content.
