Monster Buffet

The story is enjoyable. It has all the hallmarks of an easy-to-consume and fun story, but the style of writing is... sparse. There are simply just a severe lack of words. 

That said, the words we do get make for an enjoyable read. However there are times where I'll read a small paragraph or sentance and it takes me a moment to piece together what sort of situation the character is actually in, what his environment is, etc. There's a lot to be said for not spending chapters on pure description but this story is bare-bones enough that i'm actually struggling to visualize any kind of settings around the MC.

For example:

" “My knife!” I grabbed my face. My exclamation prompted more than one sideways glance from the people on the street. Now flushed with embarrassment, I made my way to the meeting spot I had arranged. I had asked for someone else to pick up the goods— for a fee." "

There's a LOT of unanswered questions and information you've glossed over here... for example:

"When did he set this up? How did he know to do so? Is this a below-the-table deal or not? If it is, how does he know to arrange something like this?"

I believe the problem is that the author has got quite a clear mental image of what is going on, the surroundings that the MC is in and his current situation. That's good, but we as the readers do not have his mental picture. The current amount of words he's dedicating to describing said picture is a bare pencil-sketch, compared to a real painting, there's a lot of potential for improvement here!

I can read the story, I can even enjoy it to a reasonable degree... but it's like sugar, tasty but ultimately unsatisfying due to a lack of substance.

good story so far and if you do it right I could esily see this in 3 diget ch but be carfull a lot of peapol have made stores like this and it beckams the same scen over and over

I'd say it's pretty good so far as I have read. The premise isn't exactly unique, it takes quite a bit of its style from other novels like the extremely popular solo leveling, but other than that, it is very good.

A very interesting start with what feels like a great world to explore. Some minor mistakes butnothing story breaking. Excited to read more!

This is a solidly-written LitRPG with a protagonist you can get behind. The worldbuilding is awesome and it really feels like something you would want to play.

Dialogue is awesome, story flows nicely, and it's very easy to be pulled to the next chapter. Overall, I recommend this book wholeheartedly.

I like how it doesnt drag out unnecessary parts..... It gets simple things done simply, is probably the best way I can describe this novel without giving any details away. While not entirely unique, it also emplores concepts I dont usually find in novels, atleast not in ones that are still surviving to this day so I am eagerly awaiting Damon's adventures!

This book has a great & immensely satisfying story while the MC is understandable and fun to read. The world is interesting and has so much potential. The story's written well apart from a few mistakes and a couple of parts that can grind the gears. 

Overall, I liked this and want to see more!

The story shows potential. If you like gory stuff this will be probably a book to follow. 

 The main character is a victim of his system and does what he needs to do to level up.

Too early for a more detaled analysis. 

When I started this novel, I immediately thought of the Korean dungeon crawlers that I used to read years back and liked it immediately. All the elements I expected were there, and then bam, the twist that makes this story special appears as he gains a power that's not to do with super strength or speed or whatever, but rather the ability to devour monsters and yoink their abilities. It's a brilliantly novel idea, especially in how it's not a definite boon since Damon can also get bad abilities from monsters, applying a natural limiter on the OPness of the ability and making the story all the more interesting for that.

Style

First-person narrative with a clean style. What I especially love is how detailed and choreographed the fights are: you can easily imagine the tension and vibrance of the scenes, and that makes it a treat to read.

Story

The story hasn't advanced super far yet, but the stage is set for it develop in. Several key pieces have been introduced, so I'm excited to see how they clash with one other to create the story Damon will be living and devouring through.

Grammar

Other than a few typos, I've spotted no other issues, so it's been a clean read throughout. Not much else to say here :P

Character 

So far, only a small cast has been introduced but their roles have been quite clear, so I'm (once again) excited to see what happens to them and how they grow, in particular Damon who seems to have been given the stick his entire life for his lack of class, so it's cool to imagine how he'll change as he becomes stronger and more influential.

Conclusion

All in all, I absolutely recommend you give this a read, especially if you've read and enjoyed other dungeon crawlers in the past since Monster Buffet has enough similarities for it to be comforting, but simultaneously enough novelty for it to be engaging. Good stuff!

More to the point, when I picked this up it was number THREE on trending and now I'm really annoyed there isn't more to read. Worth the time!
